June 24, 201015 yr Hi, thinking of updating my system , 780i MB, Q9550.to a Q9650 is there any benifit to this in FSX. thanx.
June 24, 201015 yr Author Hellothere is no benefit at all, they are essentially the same chip thanx for your reply. so what is the answer?. I dont see any quad core out there for the 755 socket. I only work with FSX . at present I am working with "Tile proxy" and it is very demanding. I can change the video cards and increase the ram. but i think i need afaster chip. thanks.
June 24, 201015 yr Helloyou can already make your Q9550 faster than the Q9650 with a very gentle overclock so why bother buying essentially the same chip againBasically you cannot get any faster chip for Socket 755, your Q9550 will do 4Ghz very easily and that is as far as S755 is going to take you.So your next step if economy is important would be a I7 930 + new MB and ram, or even cheaper a good I5 chip plus MB and ram

What are your complete computer specifications? More than likely it will be easy for us to help you.Stephen

June 25, 201015 yr HelloWith that MB (S755) you are not going to find a faster chip the Q9550-Q9650 were the end of the line for S755You do not need any more ram on that board either, as a 32bit app FSX will not use it.I would google for overclocking Q9550 , read everything you can then push that Q9550 to 4ghz.What I don't understand is why that system has watercooling if it is only running at stock speeds it is built with OC in mind. You will probably have better frame rates in FSX if you pull one of your video cards out, as FSX cannot take advantage of SLI and may even run worse.

I have been looking at overclocking on the web, all very confusing, I have a little age on these bones, so i am not as sharp as i used to be. thanx.
