Regular Freezing shortly after Take-oof

Featured Replies

Having installed RC4 my trouble free FS2004 installation has begun freezing. This problem most often occurs when I use Skydecks 737-800 package. Shortly after take-off the picture freezes and sound gradually fades to a minimum (still some sound). The Flight Sim is still running even though the image on my monitor is frozen. I can hear the usual alarms, warnings etc. indicating I am making a dog's dinner of my flight but I am simply unable to make register any input. Sometimes I can bring the program back to life by "Alt+Return" ( changing to window mode) but it's always to late to redeem the flight. My setup is a DELL Intel i7 860 based system with 6GB RAm and and an nVidia Geforce GTS240 fully updated. I would really like some help with this, I love the extra realism RC4 gives me but there's little point if it crashes my Sim.

Hi,It may be a red herring but check your keyboard assignments, both in FS and RC, and maybe any special key combinations you have for the 737-800. The picture freezing and the sound gradually fading is what happens in FS2004 when the Alt key is pressed, in preparation for accessing pull-down menus. That partly goes along with what you say about Alt+Enter sometimes correcting things as the Alt function is on a toggle.Regards,Dave

does this happen with a different plane?jd

I can confirm that the cause of this problem was due to me accidentally hitting one of the gazzillion buttons on my multifunction mouse. The reason for this occurring on the Skydecks 737 only was because of the extra workload on this "fairly" realistic plane (IMO) after take-off. As Dave so helpfully pointed out the button was assigned to the "ALT" function by default. Apologies for time wasting guys........................................I need a co-pilot.
