Boeing 787-9

Recommended Posts

787-8 and 787-9 are long distance and I think there will be a 787-3 for short distance.
correct. the -8 wil be in service in 2010/11 with a range of around 8000NM and the -9 around 8300/8500NM. The -3 is yet to score an order and i think it may be dropped!

Boeing should consider -300 variant as 757 replacement. 757s are getting old and airlines will look for replacement. Airbus is working hard on A321NG. Dropping 787-300 wouldn't be a good idea. Cheers

What?
I laughed out loud when I read this. You literally took the words right out of my mouth.

I think Boeing sees the 737-900s to be the 757 replacements. The 783 was seen as a possible variant for the asian market I believe. Keep in mind that the 787 is designed for the 788 and 789, with initial thoughts that they could shrink the plane for the 783. I was never under the belief that Boeing was going to launch the 783 in the same manner as the 788, it always felt like an "afterthought" in the whole Dreamliner program.
