July 7, 201015 yr Hello,I've just completely deleted my FS installation as I was told to be able to share folders from the Flight Simulator X folder it can't be in the Program Files folder.I originally tried moving the folder into the root of C: but all hell broke loose, so I've decided to start again. When I try to install to C:\Flight Simulator X, the installer only puts a few font files there and then installs the rest back into the Program Files folder?!?Is there anyway to do this or am I fighting a losing battle? The reason I'm doing this is I have another machine which I have networked using WideFS, but some of the programs need to access the FSX directories, thus why I am trying to move the FSX directory out of the Program Files folder. It seems with Windows 7 sharing anything from the Program Files folder is prohibited.Any help would be most welcome. Adam CrossleyCheshire, UK.
July 7, 201015 yr Hi,You do a custom install and tell the installer to install to something like C:\FSX
July 7, 201015 yr Author You do a custom install and tell the installer to install to something like C:\FSXHi,Thanks for responding, thats what I'm doing but the installer only installs a few fonts into C:\FSX and then puts everything else into C:\Program Files (x86)\Flight Simulator X ??! July 7, 201015 yr Moderator I know that it can be done, as I've not only installed to a custom folder, but to another drive entirely...When choosing a custom install, are you installing for "All Users" or just your user account? I installed for "All Users of this computer." Fr. Bill AOPA Member: 07141481 AARP Member: 3209010556 Avsim Board of Directors | Avsim Forums Moderator
July 7, 201015 yr Author I've tried a few times, but it seems to now be crashing at the end of the install with the following error -"Error to number 0x80040702Description: Failed to load DLL: GameuxInstallHelperSetup will now terminate." :( Adam CrossleyCheshire, UK.
July 7, 201015 yr Author Had no luck trying to resolve this, it looks like the only solution if I want to use FSX again is to format my PC and start again, as FSX just refuses to install and crashes right at the end of the 15min install. This sucks. :( Adam CrossleyCheshire, UK.

There's an option to do a custom install when you first start the installation routine. I'm not sure what is happening at your PC, but I would wait before formatting your PC in case someone knows what the error code means and comes forward with a solution. Just my 2 cents worth :)Good luck, Bruce. ASEL, Instrument. KBJC, Colorado.
July 8, 201015 yr Author Solution in this thread:http://forums.techarena.in/windows-vista-games/745670.htm Thanks, but I've already tried this and had no joy.I've decided to bite the bullet and format as the error is to do with the system registry being corrupt so it seems the safest thing to do.Thanks to everyone who replied. July 8, 201015 yr I found a utility to fix the problem http://www.flightsim.com/kdl.php?fid=147196 I couldn't find that file in the Avsim Library though.
