July 8, 201015 yr Hi all, I found in the PMDG 747 you can file a flight plan in FS and import it directly to the fmc.. Can that be done for the 737? Or do you have to make a flight plan with a compatable third party program and then put it directly into the PMDG flight plans folder....??? Thanks for any info....
July 8, 201015 yr Full names in this forum please. No, the file has to be in .rte format. Easiest way to build a flight plan is using the FMS in the aircraft in my opinion. It's part of the preflight that I enjoy. Dan Downs KCRP
July 9, 201015 yr Ok thanks for the info....The fms is fun to program, just nice to take a short cut occationally.
July 9, 201015 yr I don't recall the procedure but you can save a plan created in the 737NG FMCs in .rte format for use again. Now, real world, some airlines plans can get loaded into an FMC via datalink from dispatch so i don't think loading a plan from a third party planner that supports the .rte format is cheating :) The pilots do proof them each time though.Without doing this if you use an ancillary product like RC or FS ATC that needs a synchronized plan, you'd have to build it twice, once for the FMC and once for ATC. Some weather add-ons also perform better with a plan as well.
