REX vs. Flight Environment

Featured Replies

So guys, can you use HDE v2 etc with AS6 or REX? Can these programs work together? Can you list these programs and addons from best to worst from your point of view. Thx

I definitely don't have the expertise that some of the other guys posting here have but will throw in my 2 cents worth. I use GE Pro and it has transformed FS9 for me. (along with the Ultimate Terrain sets) As far as I know, it does not have cloud textures but it does have "sky" textures that gives you a great variety of sky color/haze variations and matches the right ground textures with the cloud conditions. (eg. if the conditions are overcast, then you have darker ground textures). I also use AS6.5 and the associated cloud textures (ASG) and this gives you so many variations that it just never grows old.The option to preload a flightplan into GE Pro does mean that the ground textures, sky conditions and clouds will all be matched to the real weather as the GE Pro menu will then lead you to AS6.5 and it all is coordinated together. It only takes a few minutes to set it up. But you don't have to do this every time and you will still get great effects. The FPS issue with the ASG clouds is minimal in my experience, but you can choose low res textures if you want. You can manually select what you want or let the programs choose the textures based on wx conditions or even set whatever you want to "random" and just be surprised.I haven't tried REX and it sounds like a great product, but IMHO GE Pro/AS6.5 is also an excellent combination that works really well. You may get even better results with the other products mentioned here but you will have an excellent combination with GE Pro-AS6.5
