Saving Radar Contact progress?

Featured Replies

Good morning gents,As usual I can't sort this out myself so I need your help. I can't save the Radar Contact point that matches an in-flight situation that I want to save and return to. I have Radar Contact 4.3.3845 and OS Windows 7. I followed the instruction in the manual (which I think is really for 4.1)...ie., hit semicolon--enter file name --quit RC. This action saves the flight but when I start RC and ask it to load "Previously Saved RCD's", the file is not there to be re-started. What am I doing wrong? Any help would be appreciated.Thank youGrandpa

Hi Gramps! :( I use CRTL-SHIFT-; (which I think is the default) and it saves an .RCD file in the directory you have specified on the main RC4 page (in the lower left corner), which should be the same directory as your FS save directory. I'll bet you haven't specified it, I've forgotten a few times when I've had to reinstall.Cheers, SLuggy

I use the following--it's a little cumbersome at first but here it is: Save the rcd file as mentioned by the redoubtable (that's a good thing) Sluggy by hitting cntrl/shift and the semi-colon all at once. Don't forget to have set things up to specify the path you want this to follow so you can find it easily--mine's directed to the Flight Sim X files usually found in the documents folder. Wait 5 seconds or so and save the flight again, using the standard semi-colon and specify a file name. I usually use something clever like xxxx or something else creative. Wait a few more seconds before exiting flight sim. You should now have two files, in the same folder, both of which will have usable rcd files included. If you have a registered version of FSUIPC (such a handy title) you can set it to automatically save the flight at one minute intervals, which will give you a third back up of that pesky rcd file.I also record the file name that RC attaches to the flight I am saving on a scrap of paper using only the last three numbers shown in the RC dialogue box. At my age this is a good thing to do.

Glad I could help, for once my advice seems to have done some good. After 3 or so years I'm still learning stuff about RC4, and this forum is certainly full of people far more knowledgable than me. :( Cheers, SLuggy
