July 24, 201015 yr hi guys,i know FSX is a single core native sim, but is it acually possible to make it run more than one core?cheersNo FSX since Service Pack 1 is a multi-core sim. You set how many cores in the fsx.cfg file with the entries[JOB_SCHEDULER]AffinityMask=X - Where X is equal to the decimal value, read in binary. starting from core 0 right to left. So it would be read this way0 or no entry at all = default which is maximum cores available1 = 0 1 = Core 02 = 1 0 = Core 13 = 1 1 = Core 1, 0 (Max for Dual core)4 = 1 0 0 = Core 25 = 1 0 1 = Core 2, 06 = 1 1 0 = Core 2, 17 = 1 1 1 = Core 2, 1, 08 = 1 0 0 0 = Core 39 = 1 0 0 1 = Core 3, 010 = 1 0 1 0 = Core 3, 111 = 1 0 1 1 = Core 3, 1, 012 = 1 1 0 0 = Core 3, 213 = 1 1 0 1 = Core 3, 2, 014 = 1 1 1 0 = Core 3, 2, 115 = 1 1 1 1 = Core 3, 2, 1, 0 (Max for Quad Core)etc... July 26, 201015 yr wait... so if i put in '3 = 1 1 = Core 1, 0' (for my dads pc, my other ones having a service) then ill be able to run both cores?*EDIT* ooh right i get it now, so i cant up the FPS by making my cores work harder in the cfg?If you open the Windows Task Manager and select the performance tab, you can see the cores being used.FSX will use the lower core for the flight model (fps) and the higher core(s) for scenery loading.
