July 25, 201015 yr Can anyone tell me if there is a good quality payware (or freeware) engine sound package that could be used with the Project Airbus A318 in FSX? The default sounds are a bit "flat". Any other sound packages (eg. custom altitude call outs during approach etc) would also be very welcome. It works for the wilco airbus, you could try with PA.Chris Chris Howard
July 25, 201015 yr Author Thanks, Chris. I had seen the IAE V2500 sound pack by Turbine Studios, but I wasn't aware that they had also released one for CFM-56 engines. July 27, 201015 yr I've found a handful of FS2004 V2500 soundsets that work within FSX. I remembered one that was bulit by Emil Serafino, as well as a small soundset by Enigma Simulations that includes a self-installer for direct installation into the main aircraft sound folder. For payware, AEX sounds like a perfect cure to the issue. I've tested the startups and spools with a Project Airbus model I've updated for FSX with the addition of the default A321 VC, and it sounds just absolutely authentic. July 27, 201015 yr Author I purchased the TSS CFM-56 sound pack, and it is excellent. Far superior to the stock Airbus engine sounds. July 28, 201015 yr Author Do those call outs work in FSX? That file appears to be in the FS2004 section. Christopher Low AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D CPU / 64GB DDR5-6000 RAM / 12GB Nvidia RTX 4070 Super GPU / Gigabyte X870E Aorus Elite Wifi 7 / 1+2TB Samsung Evo Plus M2 Nvme UK2000 Beta Tester
July 28, 201015 yr Do those call outs work in FSX? That file appears to be in the FS2004 section.Yes they do. I have used them in fs9 and i now use them in fsx with no problems.Chris. Chris Howard
July 29, 201015 yr I purchased the TSS CFM-56 sound pack, and it is excellent. Far superior to the stock Airbus engine sounds. That's great to hear! Particularly because I've heard the CFM and IAE sounds on the Wilco models as well, and after three flight tests, I am extremely disappointed with the way Wilco makes those voices. The TSS soundsets makes a perfect cure for the models, anyway. July 29, 201015 yr Yes they do. I have used them in fs9 and i now use them in fsx with no problems.Chris.From all of the FS2004 soundsets I've tested with FSX, they all work perfectly. GPWS sounds, TCAS sounds, spool-ups, start-ups (even those with the default startups that come from the default IAEs of the A321), they all work. Basically, the formats of FS98 soundsets and above are all identical within the format that has been shown within the sound.cfg file.
