July 29, 201015 yr Just caught a glimpse at the pilot shop of a program intended to allow users to customize core/affinity settings in a multicore CPU environment. Just curious if anyone has given it a go?Located at: http://www.fspilotshop.com/product_info.php?products_id=2652 ThanksRich Perry
July 30, 201015 yr FS04 will still only run on one core and you can do all the other stuff with Task Manager in Windows.
July 30, 201015 yr There was a thread here within the last 2 or 3 weeks on this very topic. You can do a search and probably find it if you would like to read the discussion . . . Jim Skorna is right, though. My advice would be to save your money. Smooth Skies! -- Chuck B. July 30, 201015 yr As a slightly related subject it was found in published benchmarks that using Win 7 upped performance by about 20 percent over using XP. This is believed to be a performance enhancement in Win 7 in that it will offload some calculations from the CPU to the GPU process time is available.I believe using the Task Manager for services can save a profile for process affinity assignments such as letting weather applications run on a different core. I'm not in a position to test that. Since the weather thread I would imagine is not result dependent on FS threads (except location) in a gaming sense that should improve performance. You can also read affinity settings (maybe even save them) in this free utility for Microsoft:http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinte...s/bb896653.aspx
