ADE9x and Instant Scenery 2

Featured Replies

I edited a stock airport in ADE9x in order to add some aprons and taxiways and then compiled the airport. I went into Instant Scenery 2 through FSX at the airport in question and tried to add a building. I was told by IS2 that it couldn't add to that scenery as it was an unknown file type. Is there a remedy for this? I did a search here and didn't come up with anything. Thanks for any advice.

Thank you.

When you add objects with IS (or any other object placing utility) you do not save them to an existing afcad (ade9x) type bgl file - that is why you got the error message.Save your work to a new file with a new name. The result bgl file(s) can go into your Addon scenery/scenery subfolder or into any active scenery subfolder. When enhancing an airport I usually include the ICAO code as a part of the name - example KDAL_Buildings.bgl and KDAL_vehicles.bgl and KDAL_people.bgl etc. etc. I try make separate bgls with similar onjects in them - such as buildings in one, vehicles in another and so on. Just makes it a bit easier to edit them later on if need be.EDIT ADDED:You may not be aware but you can also add "objects" through the ADE9X program also. As I understand it, those objects are compiled into a separate bgl - they are not directly added to the airport one. Check the documentaion and tutorials.Hope that helps.

What you recommend is exactly what I did. I saved the edited airport under a new airport name and then compiled it. I read the docs on both ADE9x and IS2. Guess I must have missed something as I thought I was following their required steps. I'll go back through it and see what's happening.Thanks.

Thank you.
