August 21, 201015 yr I agree with McCrash. The spikes are most likely due to too high of an autogen setting in combination of the FPS lock. Every system is unique in the way it digests FSX. On my system in areas that have alot of trees I need to keep autogen at dense with a 30 fps lock. I can go higher on the autogen but I then need to reduce the fps to 25 or lower. Jim Wenham
August 21, 201015 yr BobI agree :( , but the phenomenon is not as likely to occur with a 64-bit OS, as it handles graphics and the VAS much better than a 32-bit OS!I agree though that it could stll happen. :( RegardsPeterH
August 22, 201015 yr mine used to a lot (and still does now and then) spike the autogen like this, too, and it was/is definitely a heat issue. My card is a GeForce 7900GTX from Gigabyte and the fan is always set to 100%. With the game 100% loaded and paused, if I let it set too long, the autogen will spike. This is a very hot running card anyway, and sometimes, especially with nVidia it seems, the heatsinks are just not contacting the chips properly. That sucks too because the heatsink is one big mutha on this thing! I've actually debated pulling the card, removing the heatsink, applying some Arctic Silver or what have you and reinstalling the HS. I hate doing that however because sometimes the sink can become stuck to the chips, and being faced with accidentally removing a chip and killing the card is not fun. Nuh-uh.Not saying that it MUST be an overheat issue, but it definitely was/is with mine.
