Reims Cessna 152 window fix?

Featured Replies

I finally downloaded the Reims 152 and I LOVE it. There's only two problems: it is very difficult to tune the VOR behind the yoke, but I can work around that by shift+backspace-ing until I can see it through the corner of the yoke. BUT the windows, aargh. Is there a "clear windows" patch available out there anywhere?

look carefully at the options box, there is an option to clear them.Sorry I got this wrong, I think I found a repaint that had clear windows and copied the glass textures to my other repaints.

Your "yoke problem" is easy to solve. There is a clickspot on the panel just above the yoke's shaft. Clicking there removes the yoke. This is actually explained in the manual. :( Also the "windows problem" is fixable, but this needs a bit more affort. There is a file called "glass_CV.bmp" in every texture folder of the different paint schemes. Open one of these bmps e. g. with DXT.bmp and it to a graphics editor like paint shop or photo shop. There paint the entire "glass_CV.bmp" completely black (RGB 0,0,0). Then send the alpha channel to the editor and paint it black too (0,0,0). If you don't have dxt.bmp or if you not used to editing textures there is a work around. Just rename the file "glass_CV.bmp", e g. to "glass_CV.bmp.bak". This also will remove the scratches from the windows but will leave you with quite dark tinted windows. I like the results of the texture editing much better. You then can paste the edited "glass_CV.bmp" into all the other texture folders. Off course you should make back ups of the original "glass_CV.bmp" files first. BTW I'm sure you have realized that some of therepaints included in the package have windows with less scratches and are quite flyable. If you have no idea what I'm talking about, just drop me a PM with your email address and I will mail you the already edited bitmaps.Wolfgang

There's a manual? :( heh. I'll need to read I guess. I actually have not flown each paint model yet. I picked one, and have been flying that one. As far as that editing stuff, I don't know. I barely ever open a cfg file to change a 0 to a 1. If you have it pre-edited, I'd sure appreciate if you could email it to me. Thanks in advance!

I am a bit confused............. you refer to a Cessna 152 but all I see in the library is a 150 (dmc150tw.zip).Is that the one in question or can you provide a link?

David,Oops, I actually oversaw that the OP was referring to a C152. I was assuming he meant Fravins superb C150, because of the scratched an dirty windows and because also this model simulates the Reims version. The only 152 I'm aware of is the one out of JustFlight's Flying Club which was separately released as freeware. Maybe that's the one the OP was referring to, because also this one has somewhat overdone reflections.Wolfgang

Ya sorry there Opa, I should have been around to answer you. That 150 is indeed the correct download. I've been busy BLOWING UP MY FREAKING GRAPHICS CARD!!! Grrrrrr.:angry:Before the GPU self-zotted itself, I did find two of the paints were not so scratched that they are usable, and I had just parked the aircraft and was preparing to save 'n' set as my new default. It is absolutely the best ground handling airplane I have ever flown on any of the sims I've owned. I can taxi accurately down the yellow line, around corners, etc. My rudder work during turns is drop dead perfect now, too. No more slopping around turns in the pattern!. I wonder if I could copy the .air file to my Carenado planes! Thanks Wolfko for the download, but I never got to open it! I will in a few days after I get done shopping for a new GPU (and PSU, and possibly CPU while I'm at it), and get back in the sim-air. I am pleased that my on board graphics will nearly handle FS9. I can get FPS in the teens, yea. Straight%20Face.gif
