Sound Cards for FS

Featured Replies

Does anyone know of a good sound card that they would recommend for a new system? The PC would only run FS9 & FSX, so I don't need a great array of music control options, but I do want (as do we all of course!) something that will run smoothly and help avoid stuttering (video stuttering - often associated with sound files trying to play in my experience).BTW, I am not a fan of Creative (Soundblaster etc.) cards - had too many bad drivers in the past...Suggestions please??Thanks,Martin

I don't have a sound card recommendation since I use on-board sound, and I have a Creative SB Audigy sound card in one computer (never had any problems). Another option to improve FS performance is set your sound to 16 bit (CD quality).

Hi,Try an Asus Essence STX if you have a PCIe slot available... The only thing is that for 5.1 surround you need a toslink (optical) cable connected to your speakers...I had an Auzentech Prelude X-Fi and I must say that the Asus card is much better... it even has an amp for the headphones...Dexter

OK, thanks both. I am now rather leaning towards relying on onboard sound ("onboard as in 'motherboard' (Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD3R ?), that is, not 'on board' the aircraft - though that as well, in effect!). Martin
