NVidia GTX 460

Is the GTX 460 1GB a good option for FS9/FSX? I've read reviews till my head's spinning! Anyone got one of these cards installed and has a comment? Thanks in advance,Martin

I've got two installed running in surround vision, works well. Picture looks good and framerates are smooth depending on your display settings. As with any other setup framerates take a hit in clouds, I think that's more a function of the cpu then the gpu however. I did alot of research before buying the gigabyte 460gtx 1mb. I think its the best value, I would dare to say you would not notice a difference in FPS or IQ if you spent more and went with the 470gtx. Plus you can OC the card easily.Jim V

Jim,Many thanks ofr replying. I tuink the GTX 460s will be a great choice. The 470s are SO much more expensive, and since I run FS9 100 times more often than FSX, I should get good results.Martin

I bought the 460 for a number of reasons - 1) runs cooler, 2) runs quieter 3) works better with the latest drivers (259.32), 4) was cheap, 5) could be overclocked, 6) is the latest rev of FERMI (1.04) and 7) I had a buyer for my GTX285.Yes the image quality blew me away using nVidia Inspector (number 3) and performance was way up due to number 5.  Make sure your system is fast and not CPU bound.  The goal is to get the CPU, memory and GPU all playing together.Lovely card - I want to get another in SLI but there is no point because even at 4.2 ghz the system is still CPU bound half the time.jja

jjjallen, which driver version do you have? I only see 258.96 as the latest on the nvidia site?Jim V

The drivers that I am using were distributed by DELL so they won't be on nVidia's site.jja
