September 12, 201015 yr I'm trying to choose between these 460 cards and wonder which would be best for FSX:Gainward GeForce GTX 460 GLH 1024MB- Core Clock: 800Mhz- Memory: 1024MB GDDR5- Memory Clock: 4000MHz (Effective)- Memory Interface: 256-Bit- Processing Cores: 336- Shader Clock: 1600MHzGainward GeForce GTX 460 GS 2048MB- Core Clock: 700Mhz- Memory: 2048MB GDDR5- Memory Clock: 3600MHz (Effective)- Memory Interface: 256-Bit- Processing Cores: 336- Shader Clock: 1400MHzI have a vague recollection of Phil Taylor stating that for FSX you should get as much RAM as possible - but can't find the reference.Any help in choosing will be much appreciated.
September 12, 201015 yr I'd say the first one, I have a GTX 470 and FSX never uses more than 50% of my 1.2GB memory, so it's pretty useless.
September 12, 201015 yr I'd say the least expensive one, both will do the trick. I have a 460@715mhz with 1MB ram and I've never seen FSX use more than 70% of the capacity of the card even in the cloudiest weather while flying the J41, and my CPU is OC'd to 4.0ghz.Jim V

September 14, 201015 yr But if you have a three-screen setup, wouldn´t the 2GB version be better? "I´ll rather be down here wishing I was up there than be up there wishing I was down here"
September 14, 201015 yr I can't comment on that as I have no idea. But in theory, the 2 monitors would use more GPU RAM so maybe it would be closer to eating the whole 1.2Gb but I still think it would be enough.
September 15, 201015 yr K, thx. Think I'll pioneer it later this year, then ;-) "I´ll rather be down here wishing I was up there than be up there wishing I was down here"
September 15, 201015 yr Commercial Member K, thx. Think I'll pioneer it later this year, then ;-)2 460s in SLI is a no brainer for multiple screens. These things do one thing well and thats handle realtime video. It is not hard to imagine that FSX could be used in Hollywood productions.Cheersjja Jim Allen[email protected]SkyPilot Software home of FSXAssist / P3DAssist
September 15, 201015 yr Oh, 3 monitors then of course I agree with jja you need at least 2 cards for 3 monitors and get two 1.2Gb ones.
