CTD after completing a FS2Crew flight

Featured Replies

Guess the topic pretty much says it all...I noticed now on several flights that if I do a flight in the J41 using FS2Crew all along the way from pressing the countdown timer in the beginning to calling for the shutdown check at the end then it seems I can't do almost anything in FSX without having it CTD with a reference to a module called ntdll.dll. If I try to exit FSX it will CTD, if I try to change to a different a/c it will CTD, if I try to end the flight it will CTD...I only see this problem after a full FS2Crew flight, if I fire up FSX and then directly exit FSX or change a/c or whatever all is fine. Same thing if I start FSX and actually start FS2Crew by left-clicking the Weather Radar all is fine...this only seem to happen after a complete FS2Crew flight.Haven't tried doing 2 FS2Crew legs in a row yet by pressing the Run the Pre-Flight button a second time but will give it a shot on my next flight.Any ideas what might cause this or what could be done to fix it...?

I realize these kind of problems might be the worst kind of problems to troubleshoot. I tried running sfc on the ntdll.dll file and no problems were found so it appears to be OK, must be something else happening that this ntdll.dll file doesn't like.Anyways I've now completely uninstalled both FS2Crew and the J41 to do a fresh reinstallation and with some luck it might fix the problem, will report back here.

Bryan, just to make sure I do everything in the best possible way to maximize my chances solving my problem could you please tell me in what exact order I should perform the reinstallation starting from a clean FSX with no PMDG nor FS2Crew stuff installed. As for the J41 I only have one file called PMDG BAe JS4100.exe which as far as I understand included the latest SP currently available for the J41. When it comes to FS2Crew I have two files, FS2Crew2010_PMDGJ41_VOICE.exe and FS2Crew2010_PMDGJ41_VOICE_SP1.exe. After installing the J41 I guess it's a good idea to fire up FSX and choosing the J41 to make sure all is good so far and to enter the registration code for the J41. For FS2Crew though I'm not sure, should I install the main product and then directly after that the SP1 file or should I start FSX in between? And what about the instruction when you run the original installation where you're told to start the J41 config manager and click save settings - should I do that before or after I have installed FS2Crew SP1?If you could provide a simple step-by-step list it would be great!TIA,

Hi Richard,Install order:1. PMDG J41 with any available PMDG updates.2. Do a test flight to make sure all is okay.3. If all is okay, install FS2Crew for the PMDG and then any available FS2Crew Updates if not already built into the main installer.Regarding your CTD: Try doing a flight in China or someplace away from any 3rd party scenery/ AI traffic, etc.Cheers,

OK, thanks Bryan!Since I have the J41 with all latest updates already built into the installer where I don't have it that way for FS2Crew but a separate SP1 file is there anyway I could re-download FS2Crew to get an installer also for FS2Crew that includes the SP1?Feels a little bit like it could cause problems when I install the main FS2Crew without any SPs included on an already patched J41 and then after that install the FS2Crew SP1.

I'm not sure where you downloaded it from. There are so many 3rd party re-sellers that's hard to tell who has what version.Easiest is just to install SP1 for FS2Cre J41 after you install the main FS2Crew; it won't hurt anything. Tons of users do it that way.Cheers,

I bought and downloaded it directly from your site I belive but I'll try to follow your list to the letter and will report back if it solves my problem. After installing the main FS2Crew and before installing FS2Crew SP1 update should I or should I not run FSX and/or perform some other action before installing FS2Crew SP1 or is it fine to install FS2Crew and then FS2Crew SP1 directly afterwards without starting FSX in between?

Hi Richard,The SP1 (V1.03) is built into the main FS2Crew J41 installer (if you purchased via the FS2Crew website). So if you just downloaded recently, you'd have the SP built in.Cheers,

OK, maybe I already have SP1 included then. Checking the properties of the main installer the file version reported is 2.0.0.34 and I bought it June 11, would that mean I have SP1 included?

Nope, you need to install FS2Crew SP1 separately then (unless you login to your account and download a fresh copy).SP1 is built into the Main Installer only if you downloaded from the FS2Crew website AFTER July 6th, 2010.Cheers,

Ok, that's great news I'm able to download a fresh copy - that was pretty much what I wanted to know from the beginning. Thanks Bryan!
