Strobe Lights

Is it possible to speed up the flash rate of the strobe lights on the FSX MD11?Watching a youtube video, the MD11#s strobes were flashing about once a second. Timing my flashes on the PMDG version, they only flash once every 8 seconds.

I had terrible strobe lights in the FS9 version. In FSX versio the strobes are perfect.Joona

Keep in mind that the real aircraft has three separate strobe units on each wingtip, two on the leading edge, one under the other, and one on the trailing edge.clip_image112.jpgYou can see the leading edge strobes to the right of the red nav lights (theres two of those, as well, stacked above/below each other inside the housing), tucked into the curve of the wingtip, facing forwards. The trailing edge strobe is mounted between the two white position lights in the top image. They're the square units. They all run on separate ballasts, therefore they can give the impression of flashing more often than the individual ballast spec is. PMDG likely used the spec from the maintenance manual or POH, which is 3-5 seconds IIRC, but FS only simulates one strobe circuit, not six.Frank McWilliams

I agree I wish there was some way to fix this, but seeing as they are part to the flight model there doesn't seem to be a way of fixing thisDavid Schleck (KMKE)

The Strobe light timing is the same as real world md-11's. Although I have noticed some Md's in the real world have a different type of strobe pattern.
