The largest single-engined biplane in the world

There are a few versions of the Antonov An-2 available, but this one beats them hands down.G-max aircraft (works perfectly in FS2004) by Anton "Xomer" Nikolaev. The start-up sequence is interesting. A heavy flywheel has to be wound up to speed (great sound), battery, magnetos and fuel switched on, and eventually, the starter engaged. The noise of the big radial is deafening, but very realistic. All sounds are included in the package.Keeping it flying is a challenge. The engine will overheat if not monitored, by juggling with cowling flaps and oil coolers. This is very nicely reprented in the sim. The engine will cough and splutter (and smoke!) if you let it overheat. The An-2 is also famous for its "parachute" manouvre. If the engine fails, you cut the fuel, drop the huge flaps fully (on both top and bottom wings!), pull the stick right back and (hopefully) the aircraft will sink to the ground in a slightly nose-up attitude with virtually no forward speed. Frightening but survivable. Enter "Xomer" in file search to locate the files. Installation is not straightforward and will prove a bit tricky for beginners.[:)]an1.jpgan2.jpgan3.jpgan4.jpgan5.jpg

Looks very good!!

Great iv been looking for a good AN-2 model.

I've NEVER managed to start Xomer's beast (yes by the book), so I would be happy if you could explain how this is done ...

I also am sequence challenged with cranking up this bird. :-violin Any enlightenment would be greatly appreciated. Racartronit means something, but I just can't remember what

>I also am sequence challenged with cranking up this bird.>:-violin Any enlightenment would be greatly appreciated. >>RacartronOK, here's how I've managed to start her.1. Switch on (up) all the switches on the two banks on the right of the panel.2. Open the fuel tap. It must be pointing UP. It is on the bottom left of the panel.3. Swith the magnetos to BOTH (top of panel).4. Turn on (UP) the starter switch to the left of the Magnetos.5. Now you can start her up.6. Click and HOLD the left hand side of the switch to the right of the magnetos. Hold it until the flywheel sound stabilizes.7. Quickly click on the right hand side of the same switch and HOLD it until the engine fires and settles.8. Switch off the starter switch (Step 4)Let me know if it still won't start.Lights are the three switches in a vertical panel to the centre right. The two switches on the bottom right of the panel are for cooling vents (visible when open in the 2D panel).Watch those temperatures (cylinder head and oil)!READ the file "Panel_en.mht" (in English). Comes in a zip file within the package.Good luck!

>You mention that installation is hard - how hard?>>http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/36121.jpgYou need to know your way around the file structure, but it's no big deal.Give it a try and let me know if you're stuck.

Worked great John.:0 I had read the manual but didn't see anything about having AL the toggles on, plus I misread the fuel switch position. I'm sure the latter error was the primary culprit as I could get it started but the engine quickly died on me, Might have had something to do with starving to death :)Thanks a bunch!!Racartronit means something, but I just can't remember what

So glad to see that other people are enjoying this bird too. Excellent model, challenging but very rewarding. Thanks for the update, been meaning to try it out in FS2004.Here's a couple of quotes from Stephan Wilkinson's great article "The Un-Falco" (http://www.seqair.com/Other/UnFalco/UnFalco.html):"Well, let's just say flying an An-2 is like making love to a fat lady who's had too much to drink: there's a lot to work with, it's unresponsive, you're never quite sure when you're there, and it's big-time ugly.""It combines the challenge of instruments as random and unfamiliar as those in a slumlord's boiler room with the manipulation of controls straight from the Allis-Chalmers School of Design plus the physical demands of roll and pitch forces that must have produced entire generations of Aeroflot weight-lifting teams."I love this bird.m

Never mind, I got it. I was having trouble getting it started, but I think I got fancy when moving it over from FS2002 and messed it up. I just downloaded a fresh copy and installed it and everything works fine. Well, as fine as it can considering it's an An-2!thanks,

Hi Bill,Sorry to butt in, but I thought I would repost some operating procedures for An-2 that I once posted in BFU forum. I didn't try Xomer's model in FS2004 yet, all my An-2 flying was done in FS2002 this far, so I don't know, maybe there are differences in how it works in FSCOF. The thing is that the English manual is 'abridged' and I had to resort to my rudimentary knowldege of Russian to read the full Russian version to figure some things out. I hope it clarifies things a bit, although John's checklist seems ok to me. I'm gonna try to load Anushka in FSCOF tonight or tomorrow and see if I can get it to start.MichalOk, heres a few clarifications and explanations about the basic flight operations, using the instrument and gauge numbers from the Panel_en.mht document and the checklist by Dr. Phil Clarke, also included in the package. 1. Switch the fuel selector (68) to
