why should PSS-ABpro owners buy the new package?

Featured Replies

Hi everybody!I've got the well-done Airbus-Pro (with A319 to 321) package from PSS, which will be patched for FS04.Now I've just read the systems-manual for their upcoming A330/340 and I'm asking myself: Why should I buy it?AS far as I can see, there are no new cockpit-instruments /features added. OK, the exterior visuals are new and we have a working VC...I don't think the FBW is re-programmed (maybe it has been a bit modified to fit to the A340)?!Anything I've overlooked or I'm wrong with?Best regards,StefanBTW: I know, the PSS-forum would have been a better place, but questions related to the new product will not be posted.

>BTW: I know, the PSS-forum would have been a better place, but>questions related to the new product will not be posted.you mean whining and complaints about a product that hasn't even been released yet won't be posted...Of course the panel looks similar to the 320 series. That's because the panel in the real thing looks similar...It will probablyu have somewhat similar procedures and characteristics too, again because the real things are similar too.If you want something completely different, buy a Tupolev or 727.

WOW!!!!!!For the first time in a long time I have to say.....I agree with Jeroen instead of trying to return a flame.Well Said.......Stop whinning until the 330/340 is out and......You Have Purchased it......

I'm not sure he's whining, I think the question was wether there are any new features modeled in the 330/340 which were NOT implemented on the 320 series, or the principle diffrence, as you said Jeroen, is the exterior model//Mike

So - dont buy it - but dont knock it. PSS have a history of great products for Flight Sim.

First: No need to praise PSS or say it's bad...I've never said that in my post (BTW: I know PSS-products are good ;)I would have loved a reply like "I've heard that some new systems are modelled so the new product is really interesting - even for owners of the A319-321-package" or "You're right...no other features than those you mentioned" or "yes, but a great exterior model and the VC is interesting enough to buy it in my opinion".Regards,Stefan

Stefan,I agree with you, and from your post you asked a very good question! I also own all of the PSS line, and it would be nice to see what features are added or improved.-Paul

There may not be a big improvement over the baby bus line originally released for FS2002. That maybe a reality! We are getting to the point in the FS series of sims that GREAT and FANTASTIC maybe out the window a lot has been accomplished in the past 2-3 years. Developmentally things may slow down. There is a curve to this development business. However for the owners of the baby bus line we are going to be getting a patch that will allow the use of that productin FS9! I will probably hold of on purchasing the A330/A340 product in lieu purchasing this new product.....probably not I have purchased all the PSS products as soon as they were released.EnjoyTony

It's apparant to me, he wants to like the new product by the reasonable question. You guys who responded negatively must have some history with this person? Or have the Avsim winds turned cold?

From what I understand there is very little difference in the actual front offices of the various 32x,33x and 34x aircraft - and this is intentional so pilots can easilly move between the aircraft. Perhaps the ideal product is the complete 3xx line from Airbus.

Gentlemen, I think what he wants to know and come to think of it, what I would like to know is this; Is there more functionality within the cockpit as it relates to systems. I know on the baby bus, many of the overhead buttons/systems were not functional. Has this changed in the 330/340. This is a very reasonable question and I do not consider this whining or complaning.

One thing I did notice, reading the available manuals, is that the HOLD function is 'not implemented'.Now I hope this is because the manual is basically a reprint of the original A320 one. If not it means the A330/340 is something of a backward step since the A320's had no hold function initially, that came in some time after the a/c was released.I like the PSS products and have all their jets since FS2k (or was it 98?) but on this one I will await comments in the PSS forum before purchase.

PSS forum says this was a misprint. The hold function is modeled.George Stoddard

Good thread...I find the philosophy of PSS in how they implement and build their products to my liking ... they are just real enough and interesting enough to keep me going without bogging me down in huge checklists and endless minuteia. They deliver a nice product and they have been consistent.
