NForce 2 and integrated sound

Featured Replies

Howdy Everyone,Has anyone here had any experience with the Nforce 2 Ultra integrated sound on NForce 2 motherboards. I'm looking for opinions of its performance relative to AC97 integtrated sound on VIA motherboards in COF.I have a non-MCP NForce 2 Ultra board and was just wondering if folks who have the same setup are happy with their sound quality and frame rates in COFThanks in advance!!

Gimme me a couple days....just built a Abit NF7-S/1700 T-Bred at 2.1Ghz right now, and 2x512 Buffalo DDR....will load FS in a day or two...

Hi JetNinja,Thanks for the relpy. I went out and checked out the Abit board you're getting. That looks alike a real nice board. I see that it has the MCP feature built in which should be great for sound. Boards with the MCP feature have an APU, audio processing unit, built onto the mo-board. That should free up cycles for the CPU!!My board is the non-MCP board. So I suspect that my onboard sound will perform like an AC97 equipped board. I am going to try running some tests this weekend.I am real curious to see how your board performs with COF :-)

Hi Paul - I ahe as ASUS A7N8X v2 mobo which uses the NForce 2 sound. I've had no problems with it, in fact, I removed my SB Live 5.1 gamer sound card in favor of the NForce. If I were to look for a complaint - with the SB I was able to hear my speakers AND my headset simultaneously. WIth the NF it's one OR the other - not my preference but nothing is perfect.Remember, I am not a sound afficionado - I just know what sounds I like - clear no scratching or static.Just MHO,Vic
