Rant for MS and their incompetent rebate agent company

Featured Replies

Rant on...I will eat crow if I am wrong, but I find this simply annoying beyond believe. I got a letter from the rebate processing saying that I did not submit the required proof of purchase for past version.I sent photocopies of the 4 CD's and photocopies of the CD case for FS2002 Professional. It says clearly on the Rebate form that photocopies of the CDs are acceptable proof of ownership for the previous version.I am normally not bothered by this type of thing, but customer service in general exhibits has so much incompetence these days that I have reached my limit....Rant over:-fume- Myles

Man, I don't blame you. I think I'd be pretty ticked too. Maybe you should write MS themselves about this? I have not sent off my rebate form yet. But when I do I am going to be enclosing the 'original title page of the users manual'. Indeed, the rebate form clearly states that photocopies of the CDs are acceptable proof of ownership of FS2002.Jim

"I sent photocopies of the 4 CD's and photocopies of the CD case for FS2002 Professional.""It says clearly on the Rebate form that photocopies of the CDs are acceptable proof of ownership for the previous version."It appears that you DIDN'T send acceptable proof. As stated above photocopies of the CDs are accepted, says nothing about photocopies of CD Cases being accepted...and yes there is a difference... attention to detail.

Wow. I'd be pretty ticked too. A similar situation happened to me once after I sent in a rebate that was postmarked the day before the expiration, but they denied it because it wasn't processed until after the expiration date. The rebate instructions simply said the rebate had to be postmarked before the expiration. Oh well. $10 wasn't sufficiently motivating for me to pursue it although I probably should have out of principle. The unfortunate part is that all evidence of your purchase is lost when they deny your rebate so even if you dispute it, whatever proof of purchase you did have is gone the way of the dodo bird. Great system. For what it's worth, however, I submitted photocopies of my FS2002 CD's and my rebate WAS processed. You have a legitimate case to make; perhaps you can go back to the store you purchased from and seek a remedy that way?If you paid by credit card, you could also work through your credit card company. They're usually pretty consumer-friendly in cases like this and may credit your account for the amount of the rebate.

P3_Super_Bee, are you even reading this guys message closely, or how about the rebate form?Quote from the Author:"I sent photocopies of the 4 CD's and photocopies of the CD case forFS2002 Professional."Quote from the Rebate Form:..."OR the original title page of the users manual, OR a photocopy of the CD(s), OR a copy of the End User License Agreement that accompanied the previous version product."Seems to me he just sent the photocopy of the CD Case as an 'extra'. It is not even required, and thus would not be any reason to throw out the requirement he did send in, the photocopies of the CD(s).Hello... McFly!Jim

Didnt FS2002 Pro come on only 3 CD's? :DAnyway, maybe the photocopies of each CD wasnt clear enough? If they were, thats a pretty strange behavior of a company not following their own guidelines.Pretty rude reply as well not stating WHAT exactly was wrong with the proof sent in.

don't feel bad still waiting for mine from the switch to fs8. I dont even bother anymore.

Same here. I followed the directions and made copies of the three CD's and proof of purchase, etc. Took a bit of work and reading -- but the check did go in the mail.Got my rebate about two weeks ago.Frenchy -- out.

I had to read the rebate twice to make sure that I understood, but I sent photocopies of the 3 CD's from FS2002 (not 4 CD's from FS2004), and a copy of my FS9 receipt. I got my rebate last week.Cheers!Cloud9

I guess the question is: which CD's did he photocopy? FS2004 or FS2002? The photocopies had to be of the 3 CD's from FS2002. Scanning just the case of FS2002 would not qualify.

jabber-I'll just point out that you said you sent photocopies of *4* CD's. That makes it *appear* that you sent copies of the FS2K4 CD's. The rebate form clearly states you need to send photocopies of the *3* CD's comprising FS *2002* ....

i sent a photocopy of fs2002 cd#1, the receipt, etc. had my rebate in 1 week.jd

yes, and in that lies the problem. He must send in photocopies of his FS2002 CDs. He didn't do that, therefore does not get a refund.

>yes, and in that lies the problem.>He must send in photocopies of his FS2002 CDs. He>didn't do that, therefore does not get a refund.>Sorry, that was a typo in my original post, I sent in...1. Rebate for for COF2. Receipt for COF3. Photocopies of disk 1,2, and 3 of FS2002 Professional.4. Photocoies of FS2002 disk sleave ( front and back - whichshows the FS2002 registration/serial number by the way ).Clearly a mistake on their part. Point of my post wassimply ranting... once in while mistakes and poor customer service just get to you. Couple months back I got a call at work asking If I wanted to suscribe to the local daily newspaper. I said "why are you bothering me at my place of business and by the way don't you think you should know that I ALREADY subscribe to your newspaper daily and sunday? Why would we know that we are calling from a different office that handles sales? - INCOMPETITENT, ANNOYING, and with total disregard for the customer. I have since canceled my subscription...but alas I can't do that with MS because I love FS...- Myles
