Problem with PPP scenery

Featured Replies

I have recently re-Installed the freeware PPP Portugal scenery and Have found that the AFCADS for the scenery do not show. Bui;dings are displayed and AI traffic are parked but no tarmac, Taxiways or Runways. The scenery is in FS9 and I use Windows 7. All other add-on freeware scenery is fine.Pleas has anyone got any ideasNeil

Assuming you are talking about ppp30.zip (it's always helpful to give full filename and DL locations when asking for help), the readme has you load the LC after the scenery, giving it higher priority. This is unusual.Try reversing their positions in the scenery library.regards,Joe

Thanks for the reply, I have tried the files one above the other and that has not appeared to solve my issue.PPPProblem.jpgHere is an Image of my problem to better show the issueRegardsNeil

Never had any probs with this scenery but what's also unusual about it is that the AFCADs for all 4 airports in the package are in a single file (airports.bgl in ppp/scenery). Might just be worth checking that this file is indeed in your addon scenery folder; also that try opening one of the airports using AFCAD2 or similar. That'll also show duplicate AFCADs which you could try deleting.May well be completely irrelevant but worth a go.

I wouldn't do any editing of that file with Afcad. You might end up losing all airports except one, or creating duplicate Afcads. There is nothing wrong with having all of the airports in one file, that's how Microsoft did it.I would look for Afcads in other addons for these airports.Do you have this problem at all 5 airports or just one/some?Do you have addon mesh? It shouldn't matter, just asking. These airports are all at the default elevation, so this is a puzzler.regards,Joe

All agreed. I was just suggesting using an AFCAD editor to see if they were genuinely present & check for duplicates - not to edit them. And I agree there's nothing wrong with putting multiple AFCADs in one file. It's just a little odd for freeware addons in my experience.

Having read all your helpful posts, I am going to replace the AP945180 file with the original FS AP945180 file which I have loaded on my laptop to see if this makes any difference, I think at one time this file may have been altered through another piece of freeware scenery for the area and when I changed computers I thought I would save time copying my old scenery file and putting it in my new fs9 folder. I was thinking this may be the problem. I will let you know how it goes, at worst it will be the same if ok, it will be a good learning point.Fingers crossedNeil

Well that didnt work, However I have also noticed that none of my Portugese or Spanish airports are visible, if there is a fix without having to start from fresh that will be cool if not I will just have to bite the bullet.RegardsNeil

I just installed the ppp30.zip pacjage on the my FS2004 setup using XP.No issues at all so I suspect there is something amiss with your Win 7 permissions.Have you Right clicked on your FS9.exe file and under Compatibility, set it to "run as adminstrator"?Also have you experimented with turn off UAC (User Account Control) temporarily when adding scenery entries? And finally can we assume you have used the procedures illustrated in the following resources when adding acenery entries?http://forums.flightsim.com/vbfs/showthread.php?t=205432Also a good video:http://iblueyonder.com/video-tutorial-adding-scenery-to-fsx-in-windows-7/Hope those thoughts are useful.

I am running FS9 so when I add scenery I do it slightly differently, I go to scenery library add area navigate to the file and then click OK the file opens to the scenery and texture files, I then click the back arrow and it is loaded. I have done this with all add on scenery which all works fine, I am only experiencing the problem with the Iberia and Portugal region. I have even now replaced the Eurw files from the fresh installation on my laptop but this hasn't cured the problem.RegardsNeil

Problem Solved, I was trawling through another Popular FS Forum and found a post with a problem, although not the same gave me an idea. I went to the scenery config file in my main folder and deleted all add-on scenery then re-installed the ppp add-on and all is well.AWAinfoTAPLisbon.jpgAll I need to do is add the other files and check to see if any conflict occurs, if it does I will post again but hopefully all will be well.Incidentally post that gave me the idea had the final fix posted by "OPA" so thanks very much.Kindest RegardsNeil
