October 26, 201015 yr There's no reason you can't slow down and configure earlier back along the approach too - as long as you're down to the altitude ATC gives you and below the glideslope, just slow down and get the plane configuring - 2000 feet above the field elevation should be plenty if you're already configured. If you come screaming into the GS intercept at 250 knots, no flaps and no gear, then yeah you're gonna have a hard time slowing down.To intercept the glide slope and/or localiser you should not be above 190IAS at the outside. Generally ATC (in real life) will give you a range between 160 and 180. If you are making your approach from a facility at the end of a STAR then the chart should give you your exact speeds to and from the facility and to the FAF. For example EGLL, to land on 27R from Biggin. 220kts to the facility, to be at 180 by 9DME, this speed is maintained up to the FAF unless (in real life) ATC says otherwise. You have very little chance of making a good ILS interception at higher speeds. In these cases the AP is snaking you all over the sky which is a.not very safe and b.would involve a substantial quantity of passenger vomit down the back of your neck!!!vololiberista Super VC10 into LOWI with PF3 at a cinema near you https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=298UDyNmgUA

The distance to touch down from this point is 26nm because the IAP in sinuous. The height is not less than 3500ft at 13.5nm from touch down, 3000 ft at D10 from London( I-LL), and 2500 ft at the FAP/FAF which is D7.5 from London ( I-LL).http://www.ead.euroc..._2010-03-11.pdf Gerry Howard
