How do I keep from being called Experimental by FS2002 ...

Featured Replies

Brethren, I have installed a nice looking (and nice flying) DC-8 on my FS2002 pro. The thing is the ATC always calls me an "experimental", as it is unable to identify my aircraft type. How can I correct this?

Go to: Create a flight -> Selected aircraft -> Change... -> ATC name -> Change... -> Airline call signChoose a name from the drop-down menu if it says "-None" (which I suppose it does for you).I was also called "Six Pappa Mike" by ATC after I got the PMDG 737NG add-on and it was very annoying. But being called "Experimental" must be more annoying LOLHope you can fix it.Nico

You can also go to the aircraft.cfg for the plane you're using and change the ATC airline, type and flight number fields. FS9 has a variety of words that you're able to use for these fields, but it's hard to tell what will work and what won't. You should be able to change the ATC type and model to "Douglas" and DC-8" or something similar and it should recognize it...when in doubt look in the default aircraft (such as the DC-3) to see how they have it layed out in there. Most airlines are in there as well, so you can have it call you United xxxx or whatever as well...

Thanks a lot for your replies. Well unfortunately, I am still living in the FS2002 pro days, and will be for some time to come!!I have actually done all of these suggestions before; changed the aircraft type in the config file and all.Maybe there is no voice recorded for DC-8?Any more ideas?

Hi;Try DC85, DC86, DC87, or DC8Q.I believe somewhere in the FS2k2 archives you will find some files that list almost every aircraft made and the codes that FS2k2 will accept. Also try [email protected]. His name is on these papers I am looking at. I just verified this in my files. I downloaded this from somewhere, I just don't remember where. Search for files by Eric Buhagiar.PS:Download fs2k2atc.zip, fs2k2atcV2.zip and for some reason there is a second fs2k2atcV2.zip with a different date from the other so download all 3 and you should have everything. These also work in FS2k4. maxsdadhttp://jdtllc.com/images/RCsupporter.jpg

DC8Q should work. Send me an email and I'll send you a file (34k zipped) that theoretically identifies all of the built in ATC options in 2002.
