October 26, 201015 yr Could someone recommend a number for this option, right now Im using 25000 ft would that be somewhat realistic?
January 23, 201214 yr Wow...this must have been a tricky question considering you still didn't get one single reply since back in 2010 when you posted :wink:I have the same question but now for AS 2012...this value is by default set to 8000 but is that considered a realistic value...seems rather low to me...?And yes...I do hope someone will reply before 2014 :(
January 23, 201214 yr I've been using 12,000 ft for a quite now and think it's right for my viewing. I mostly fly high altitude IFR flights though. Edited January 23, 201214 yr by WallysWorld
January 23, 201214 yr Ok, thanks!I also fly IFR only. Would be interesting if a real pilot could comment on this.
January 29, 201214 yr I don't have AS 2012 in front of me but out of my head I believe it's under the visibility tab in the options page.
January 29, 201214 yr Realistically it would depend on where the temperature inversion is. This is different every single day. Sometimes it may be 1000 feet another day it would be 18000 feet. When the air is unstable one does not even exist. One day I hope AS decides to stard using lapse rate/ stable or unstable air profile calculations to do this automatically. It could analyze skew t/log p charts to decide rendering as compliment to surface obs and you would have one excellent weather program. Edited January 29, 201214 yr by denver69 Marc Lynn
January 29, 201214 yr Currently I have it set at 15000 feet which seems to work well for me in AS 2012 but thanks for the input!
