OK, did that. It said there were about 30 sources, all of them looked pretty normal from my understanding, but the last 15 all timed out, so I couldn't tell what they were. Could this timeout issure be the problem? I'm so confused!

cPanel is a web-based control page typically used by web hosting companies to allow its customers access to some account-specific parameters and settings on the server. It looks mighty suspect....-Greg

I would suggest trying an alternate browser. Something like www.opera.com. That way you can tell if it is your whole system that is messed up, or just IE.

Ok I gave MSN Explorer a try, and I still get cPanel coming up when I go to Google. I'm glad it was just Google that won't work...if it was Avsim, I don't know what I'd do :-lol. I honestly don't know how that got on here though, all I use this computer for is Flight Sim and Avsim to download stuff for Flight Sim. Can you guys think of anything else short of a complete reinstall? Thanks.

No. It timed out because you reached a firewall. What you need to do is now ping each of those IP addresses and see what they resolve to. If you're being redirected on your client, that will show it.Jim

Sorry to keep buggin' ya Jim, but could you explain how to ping each of those clients? What should I be expecting to see if all is well, and if it is not. Thanks again.

From a command line, type the following:ping It will show you what that IP resolves to.Jim

Ok, now when I go to do the tracert to get the IP addresses, the program won't pop up like it did the first time. I can't even find the IP address to do the ping thing. Jim, I must be bugging the hell out of you by now, but thanks for all your help!

No problem. :)Jim

I have just been caught by this Trojan. Download the the Symantec Trojan.Qhosts Fix Tool follow the instructions on the web site and you should be able to get google and all the other search engines back up and running.Although I have no Idea where the damn thing came from?Cheers

Nope, it's not this Trojan.Qhosts virus. I tried downloading that tool, it did a search, and there was not traces of it on here apparantly! I think I'll try it again right now though because that seems to make the most sense. Thanks.

Ok hit with EXACTLY the same thing today, cant use search engines, everything else is fine just my Yahoo etc have been hijacked by this Firstbookmark or Cpanel thing. I highly recommend you go here right now:http://boards.cexx.org/viewforum.php?f=1On this forum you will find links to a program called Hijack this, also there are folks who will interpret your logfile generated by this program and help you get rid of the bad stuff. I just found all this tonight and downloaded Spybot search and destroy. I already use Adaware. I will try the hosts file stuff and see how that works, but my guess is that aint it, there are probably things in the reg that need to be cleaned. Hope this helps, what a load of absolute crud this stuff is!!Hornit

bump for those who might need the help.Hornit

Thanks Hornit, I'll go check that out! It's sure a pain in the ***.
