October 7, 200322 yr Is there some way to increase the update rate of the moving map in the default garmins in FS9 without killing my FPS? [email protected] | 32gb RAM | EVGA GTX1080 8gb | Mostly P3Dv5 (also IL2:BoX, DCS, XP11)
October 7, 200322 yr My guess is (like about everything else in FS) it's system/CPU dependant. Get a faster system with more of everything, and the GPS refresh rate will increase accordingly. Dave

October 7, 200322 yr >"Gee, thanks, Yogi - er, Dave.":-lol Well, you did ask.For the record, the GPS really bogs my system down when it's displayed. During turns, the refresh rate is terrible. But then again, my system is a complete antique. PIII-1GHz, 512MB RAM, 32MB GF2 GTS. I would be curious how the GPS runs for folks with high end systems. Dave
October 8, 200322 yr Not brilliant, even with a 2.6 Mhz cpu.But there is an answer to this - forget the GPS, fly low and slow and navigate by maps :-) Yep, I know, it's a bit old fashioned but it adds a lot more interest.David
October 8, 200322 yr There is also another answer to this: use the only supported and compliant GNS530 simulation available from here: www.reality-xp.comHope this helps!
October 8, 200322 yr >But there is an answer to this - forget the GPS,Good advice. Why would anyone want to fly with the GPS that have 1/2 functionality missing, knobs missing, poor graphics. The only thing common with the real unit is the "Garmin" trademark on its box. You would have to pay me $$$ to even touch this mother of all fakes ... :-lol Michael J.http://www.reality-xp.com/community/nr/rsc/rxp-higher.jpg Michael J.
