October 30, 201015 yr Is it possible? Having: 2 keyboards, yoke, rudder pedals, X-52 throttle. 1 keyboard for normal typing and few autopilot commands and another for overhead. And Saitek yoke and throttles (used for other commands other than throttling...) and X-52 Pro throttle for the throttles. And rudder pedals for the rudder off course. How would i do it? FSUIPC for everything or does FSUIPC only work for programming the flight sim hardware and you must use some other software (http://www.hidmacros.eu/whatisit.php) for the keyboards?Thx
October 30, 201015 yr Hi Boeingsta,It looks to me like it should work to me. Maybe someone else will see something, but Windows should merge the keyboards automatically, no problems there, and FS will make the assignments. The only thing to watch out for is conflicting axis assignments, assigning two controllers to the same function. FS sees them both and just listens to the last one than moved. You move the yoke, FS tracks that, then another controller assigned to the same function bounces by a count and it tracks that, then you curse your controller and move it back, then the other controller bounces again and so it goes. If the unused controller is bouncing a lot, going 127..128..127..128... at the raw data level for example, any control input from another controller is likely to be useless as the bounce is probably happening at the frame rate. You need to check each controller, because in the absence of an entry in standard.xml (the one in the main FS folder), it will assign ailerons, elevator, throttle, rudder, something i can't recall, and then a slider I think, so the default is that most everything is in conflict. You need to clear the settings for both the control and the slew in all the controllers you don't want to use. Also, if you put up any 5/6 axis controllers, check the sensitivity settings. It will default one axis to 0%. FS can see it, you can assign it, but it has no effect on the axis in flight. You don't normally need to worry about multiple devices assigned to the same button, just don't press the button. That simplifies the clearing a lot if you just walk down the axis lists for each controller.FSUIPC makes it easier and gives you access to all the commands available, FSX only brings out 400 or so of the 1100+ that are actually defined, but aside from that and some other option it makes available, it would be able to do it. OTOH, if you're building a cockpit, you're probably going to end up with it anyway, you might as well start out with it installed. One last tip. Plug all the controllers in, check the Control Panel to make sure everything is operational, and then restart Windows before you actually make the assignments. Don't move the sticks after that, don't let the system power down the USB hubs, and don't let the system go into hibernation unless you want to go through FS assignments clearing defaults. FSUIPC protects you from this if you make all the assingnments there (and only there) since it deals with things in terms of, for example, "Ailerons" and "Throttle1" as opposed to The X and Z axis on the first controller, e.g. in FS' terms rather than Windows.Hope this is some help!Best regards,- BobThe StickWorkshttp://www.stickworks.com
October 31, 201015 yr Author Wow, thx for that. So i'll try get FSUIPC and then other controllers. It'll look cool. What about adding 2 more screens? How to do that and any software needed to show like a 180 view of the cockpit on 3 screens. I.e. left screen shows left of the runway center line, middle screen shows the center line, right screen shows the right of the center line. I mean, like, the centre one will show the runway, and the other 2 can show the terminal builings at a 45* angle from the centre line of the runway...http://www.wideview.it/wideview.htmhttp://flyawaysimulation.com/postt23191.htmlsomething like this. Also with FSUIPC, can you program the buttons on your hardware, i.e. keyboards, rudder pedals, yoke etc to work for all jets or do you have to change or reprogram for each jet you fly? Can you make multiple profiles? Like, if i want to change 1 button for this separate jet aircraft etc...
November 17, 201015 yr I use hidmacros. have 6 keypads linked up via hidmacros..eg one for electrics, lights, AP, engine controles, surface controles etc..Work like a charm. Never use a mouse in flight.
