Weather Stutters/FPS

Featured Replies

Wow Bob, I'm fresh out of ideas. Perhaps someone else can think of something. In the meantime, I think the "MAX_UNLIMITED_VIS=96560" is measured in meters and I believe your visibilty slider is set to 60 miles. Doesn't 96 kilometres = 60 miles? :-hmmm I tried entering a lower number there and it seemed to reduce the visibility for one flight but when I exited FS and it rewrote the config file it put the 96560 back in again. I finally used the lastest version of FSUIPC to reduce the visibilty and that works well for me.I'll keep watching this thread and if I think of anything else I'll shoot it at you. Good luck. R-

I have friend who is flying FS9 on a system I just upgraded for him, and recently began to stutter and hesitate after installing the new nVidia 52.16 drivers, also updated the new NForce2 all in one version 2.45 drivers for WinXP.His stuttering starts after several minutes into the sim, but goes away in ;windowed' mode from full screen mode.Does anyone else have different reactions between full screen and windowed modes? Thanks

Hi All,I just recently started getting the same stutter that is being talked about in this thread. If I use any sort of weather download, eg WeatherMaker, ActiveSky, or the inbuilt Weather download in FS9 I get the stutter (probably about every 2 minutes). However if I run ActiveSky on another PC using WideFS then NO stutter!I have a Radeon 9800Pro 256Mb and I am using Chris's cloud textures etc. Also using latest FSUIPC.I would love to know what causes this as I would like to use the inbuilt weather download until ActiveSky2 comes out.Help !!!!!

PaulI haven't been following this thread this week and I apologize for thatAfter I struck out here, I went to MS with this. They worked with me for several days (via email at night) and we found the bad guy was an autosave.dll that I picked up somewhere. I don't have a clue where it came from but I really liked the 'My Restore' feature in it.Any way, once I removed that..all was good in FS land again. Why it affected only the downloaded weather is beyond me but you might check the ...modules/folder for that driver.BobL

Hi BobL,Fantastic!I have only recently put in autosave.dll and that would explain why this has only recently started happening. Thanks SO much for taking the time to come back and post on this.It is greatly appreciated !!All the best.

Hi Bob,What is autosave.dll, where does it come from and in what directory is it located? Does it hurt anything to simply delete it?Airbus

>What is autosave.dllIt's an add-on that at specified intervals stores a copy of the flight in progress. I've used it several times after a failed landing to go back to a point and try again. It's also been a miracle after a 90 minute cross country, 10 minutes from landing and the power decides to cut out for a second or two. >Where does it come from? I lost track. I had it in FS2002 and probably FS2000 before that. After I was satisfied that FS9 was working on my computer I grabbed the complete modules folder, guages folder and sound folder of FS2002 and dropped them into FS9. On those that it asked to replace I said no.>What Directoryfs9 Main Folder.../Modules. It's not part of the MS install. If you haven't added it, it's not there.>Does it hurt anything to simply delete it? Nope. Not a bit. Since it's not part of MS install, nothing's dependent on it and I deleted it with simple delete action. I then ran Sys Suite and it said the registry was ok and so far, no stutters.BobL

Hi Bob,I can confirm that I have had the same result as you.Deleted autosave.dll and problem fixed.I'll send an email to the author of autosave as I find it a very useful utility and would love it to work properly in FS2004.Once again good find Bob, so nice to have my 30fps back with NO stutters and great weather :-)Cheers from Australia.
