November 19, 201015 yr I know that having multiple images in your signature is strictly prohibited, but what about multiple images "within" an image? For instance, if you had two pictures in one image file, would that still be violating the "no multiple images in our signatures" rule given that it meets the size requirements?NOTE: I am not trying to find a way around this rule, just asking for clarification. Jon E.
November 22, 201015 yr My interpretation of the signature image rules is that the goals are: Small storage requirement so the page generated by the server side script isn't glacially slow to load. Single file to avoid delays associated with Domain Name Server look-ups and response times for the poster's preferred image server. Dimension limits so we don't have to scroll horizontally for every line of text or ridiculously tall signatures. As long as the dimension and file size maximums aren't exceeded I don't see how a single image file being the result of combining two images with an editor would violate the purposes behind the rules. But the opinions of this site's moderators/administrators probably bear a lot more weight than mine.
November 23, 201015 yr Hi Jon,I don't make the rules, just enforce them as fairly as I can. Since I haven't seen anyone answer your question yet, I'll give it a shot. I would tell you that it is okay to have multiple images within in an image because, when all is said and done, it is really just one image. So as long as you stay within the size requirements, you won't have any problems from the moderators. If Tom corrects me on this I will let you know, but until then I'd say you're just fine doing that. Jeremy "rightseater" Fletcher
