Mouse & frames

Featured Replies

A simple question guys. When I move the mouse my frames drop about a 10% in FSX, until the mouse cursor disappears after some 5 or 6 seconds. Does it happen to you too please?I'm not sure it's exclusively related to the mouse movement because it happens when I use my touchscreen too. Just wanted to know if it's just me or whatThanks

Jep, I know about this problem, too on my old computer. Now I have a very strong computer so that effect isn't noticeable. But this have discussed in other forums, too and as far as I know theres no solution.Only to buy countless hardware switches and panels so that you don't have to use the mouse anymore Big%20Grin.gif

hehe, yeah Guenter, we love panels don't we? :)So you mean with your new rig the effect is lessened? or is it that because your frames are better it doesn't matter that much? It's no big deal really in mid air when my FPS are great, but in an approach to a busy airport, every frame helps.Do you have a link to some of those threads please? I swear I've been searching, but couldn't find anythingEDIT: ok, I found this http://www.forum.aerosoft.com/index.php?showtopic=36891so it's related to the (in)famous FSX VC clickspots issue. guess there's nothing that can be done then

Actually i havent recognised this but during my next flight i'll look for it

The FSX engine has some well known problems with the mouse - ACES was aware of them and was going to fix it before they were shut down. The number of mouse rects in a VC is a major contributor to low performance. Having the mouse active on the screen as described here also causes a large FPS drop. You can try running FSX in a window and then clicking away from the window while still leaving it in view - the FPS will shoot up by a lot as soon as the mouse is no longer focused on the FSX window.More CPU speed helps with this stuff, but that's about it.

Ok thanks guys. I almost always fly in windowed mode and try to place the pointer in the header of the window after clicking something because of this. I guess I'll need to keep doing that. No biggie anyway

I don't think it is because of a special hardware, as Ryan said, its all about CPU. I run on a i7 930 @ 4.2 Ghz and have not much problems now :smile:The link you've found is the one I meant at the AS Forum, yes.So, hardware is the only solution: new and faster PC or countless hardware switches. Best solution: both!!!Thats why it is important that addon-developers give us as much possibilities for assignements as possible! Also for joybuttons and not only keystrokes...Hope, the NGX will serve us in this point...Could you tell us a bit about that, Tabs? What assignements could be done in the NGX?If not nearly every function could be assigned, do you think we could get a bit support from PMDG that they will tell us the LUA variables and ROTOR_BRAKE parameters (if used?)?thanks, Günter

FYI on my system flying the MD80 from Lenardo the problem is reversed. I get better framerates when the mouse IS showing Big%20Grin.gifBig%20Grin.gif Its maybe a 6 or 7 FPS drop when the mouse goes away. With all PMDG aircraft though I have the same issues as you with losing FPS when using the mouse, fortunatly I have most autopilot fuctions mapped to my HOTAS and use Track IR for looking around so I dont have to use the mouse very often anyway. The problem affects all aircraft in some way including the L-D 767. Andrew Simmons

Ok, thanks again.@Andrew, that's weird. I get the same effect in the maddog. Not too much but still some (5-10%)

You guys talking about 2D or VC on the Maddog? What I mentioned about mouse rects applies only to the VC.
