How have you solved the msfs reverse thrust problem?

Featured Replies

I currently use a ch throttle, reverse thrust is engaged using the default F2 key. however, many of my planes refuse to cooperate with this setup. the pmdg 737 is one of these, upon holding down F2, reverse thrust engages for a second, if i'm lucky, then it bounces in and out of reverse thrust. in replays it often doesn't engage at all. i've tried using fsuipc to setup the throttle for reverse thrust but haven't been able to get it to work at all. this seems to be another one of those annoying fs bugs that are consistently ignored. what's your solution to this?Andre

Andre,I don't have the CH throttle but use a Saitek throttle and have that set up OK using a registered version of FSUIPC.If the CH throttle has a detent or similar to indicate the idle stop, so you know when you have hit idle and the next pull back is reverse, it should work as well as the Saitek throttle.Go into the joystick section of FSUIPC and tick the 'Map to 4 throttles' in the throttle section. Then go to page 3 'Seperate throttles per engine' and click the SEt button under throttle 1Now move the throttle fully forward and hit the set button which has the highest reading (probably the right hand one).Bring the throttle back to the idle position and hit the centre 'set' button.Bring the throttle fully back and hit the set button that you have not touched yet, that sets the full reverse value. Now move the throttle back upto the idle position and hit the centre set button again. The two centre 'set' values give you a null zone around the idle position and you may have to play around with those settings so that you don't inadvertantly go into reverse when you just want idle.HTH

I have the CH Yoke USB (3 lever) and I've set it up as follows.I chose one of the yoke buttons for reverse thrust, then I don't need to take my hands of the yoke. (I use the left button on the handle). Set it up in assignments and MOST IMPORTANT set the repeat function to, repeat while held down, in the right hand assignment column. If you don't do this you only get reverse on each button click rather than holding down the button and getting full reverse.Works every time including with the PMDG acft.Paul Gardner

Andre;Go into your FSUIPC.INI and add these lines at the end.MapThrottle=YesThrottle1=-10563,-8729,512,16383Then save and when you start FS9 you should have Reverse on the bottom of the throttle lever.I use these settings with the CH Yoke with the throttle lever. I can't tell from your query if you are using the Yoke or the seperate throttle. Either way this is at least a starting point for you to try.I have found that whenever I update FSUIPC it is easier to just add these lines then to try to reset them using the interface.I hope this helpsmaxsdad
