November 29, 201015 yr I am in no way satisfied how my FSX looks, i see videos by people whose scenarios/weather look 1000x better and more realistic than mine.I have installed:FSGenesis, UTX, GEX, ORBX PNW, REX OD, (VFR Germany), ASE.All addons are patches to the latest updates. As i understand the best solution is to use REX for the textures and let ASE do the weather. Here is the first thing i dont understand: Because the REX concept is totally over my head: I dont understand the concept of "theme creation" in REX. It seems to install textures "into my FSX"...but what does that mean?I can select "Midwest Storm"...so it takes about 30mins to "install" some stormy looking HD clouds into my FSX...but what if i dont want the stormy clouds anymore? What if i decide the next flight i want to fly somewhere else in nice weather? What is the default setting? I dont want to mess and "install" textures all the time.I simply want in FSX to be able to select different weather scenarios - but they they should look realistic and nice as i saw in some videos.I am also confused whether i need to start FSX from within ASE...i think i only need to do this if i want real time weather?

November 29, 201015 yr computer specs?* CPU* MOBO memory* videocard & memory* OS--Q6600 at 3.6Ghzdfi x38 board4GB mem / Win7Geforce 275This is **** - so i installed "Stormy Weather" in REX..which seems ok if i leave it...but if i switch to "Weather Themes" in FSX and select fair weather or clear skies...i still have the DARK stomy sky which REX installed. I am certainly not going through 30min of texture copying in Rex every time when i want to change the weather. This doesnt make any sense to me AT ALL. Basically, Rex installs/overwrites any kind of weather with its textures and prevents me from quickly changing weather conditions.
November 29, 201015 yr This is **** profanity doesn't help and makes people unwilling to help. FS is a game, period.i still have the DARK stomy sky which REX installed. have you posted this question on the REX support forum?I am certainly not going through 30min of texture copying in Rex if a file exchange takes 30 min you have issues beyond FS. a post on the REX support forum may assist.in addtion -is FS installed in the default /programs directory?is UAC OFF for the entire directory structure that FS is installed?have you tried the various 'tweek' settings you can find in this forum? what are you r FS slider settings?-- D. November 29, 201015 yr If you're comparing your system to some of the super awesome systems on the market today (ie core i7 4GHz GTX 580)you'll come up short every time.REX/FEX/X graphics, etc all create new cloud textures. You don't need to use a certain theme. Just pick one that suits the majority of the flying you do. Then load your real weather.Your PC isn't too bad, at least compared to mine, but you'll want to start with the NickN simforums FSX setup guide to get the ball rolling. Post some screenshots as I can't really determine what you mean when you say "fsx looks so bad." | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |

REX does not need to be installed with new textures for different weather scenarios. Take you time, read the manual.REX loads real weather once your the game starts up. And keeps on updating the weather as you play.I wonder have you looked into the tweaking required of FSX.cfg to ensure you get the most out of your system, if not, then start with that. review Nicks install tweaks and then use boyote's fsx.cfg tool to assess how your setup is doing.
