November 29, 201015 yr When I run FS, I get a CTD whilst the initial splash screen is showing. This started happening after I downloaded Cloud9 (now on FSDT's) Amsterdam scenery, from the FSDT website. This installs several bglman files in the Modules folder. The problem, and what is causing the CTD, is that there is one copy of the file Esellerateengine.dll in the (hidden) folder C:\ProgramData\Esellerate, which is as it should be for Windows 7, but every time I run FS9, a second copy of the file installs into the C:\Windows folder (which was correct for Windows XP, I think). Having the latter file there causes FS to CTD. I remove the latter file and FS starts fine this time, but installs the dll file in Windows again. Can anyone say why? I do not have the sim running in XP Compatibility Mode so am at a loss to say why this is happening. When I uninstall the Amsterdam scenery, I still have two dll files, but no CTD as the bglman files are no longer present in the Modules folder. OK, but this means I can't install that scenery. I have a thread at the FSDT site, but I thought I'd post this here as someone may be able to help with why FS9 is installing a copy of the dll in the main Windows folder when I am running Windows 7 (PC came with it, not an upgrade from XP). As a last resort I could write a script that deletes the dll file from Windows when FS9 finishes loading, but that's only a 'sticking plaster job' - I'd like to get to the bottom of things if possible and stop the file being created in the first place.Thank you,Martin Martin Stebbing, EGLF (UK)
November 29, 201015 yr Author .. I think it's a case of locating other programmes that install eSellerateEngine.dll - I've been Googling this but not much luck so far. FSDT suggest FS_Earth - I'll test that as soon as I can. Other suggestions? Martin Stebbing, EGLF (UK)
November 29, 201015 yr Author Just in case anyone else has this problem, it was the fs_earth.dll in my FS9/Modules folder that was causing the problem. Maybe I have an old version ...M. Martin Stebbing, EGLF (UK)
December 24, 201015 yr M-I've just started to have the same problem with FS9 in Windows 7. I have not installed any new scenery. However, I did try and install some software that would convert my Sony Handycam into a webcam. Problem seemed to have started after that. I've removed the program, cleaned the registry, and tried a backup copy of the FS9.cfg, but perhaps there is still some trace of the rogue software somewhere that is causing FS9 to CTD. Any ideas?Regards, PowerSpec G426 PC running Windows 11 Pro 64-bit OS, Intel Core i7 11700K @ 3.60GHz 30 °C, 4089MB NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 , ASUS TUF Z590-Plus Gaming motherboard, Samsung 870 EVO 2TB SSD, Samsung 750 EVO 500GB SSD, Acer Predator X34 34" curved monitor (external view), RealSim Gear G-1000 avionics suite, RealSim Gear GNS 450, Slavix Stay Level Custom Metal Panel, Honeycomb Alpha Yoke, Redbird Alloy THI, Saitek Combat Rudder Pedals.
