December 1, 201015 yr Ok sorry just never done this before, what will that line do, cause a rebuild?I went ahead and added it should I also add SHADER_CACHE_VERSION=9872435? or/and SHADER_CACHE_VERSION=1 or leave those out?And what exactly is a shader anyway?Just add THIS ONE LINE!SHADER_CACHE_VERSION=25NOTHING ELSE! SAVE THE CFG AND RESTART FSX!!!!Burner - if you are having all this trouble over one small, simple instruction - there is no possible way I can explain what shaders are and what they do. i7 [email protected] | 32GB RAM | EVGA RTX 3080Ti | Maximus Hero VII | 512GB 860 Pro | 512GB 850 Pro | 256GB 840 Pro | 2TB 860 QVO | 1TB 870 EVO | Seagate 3TB Cloud | EVGA 1000 GQ | Win10 Pro | EK Custom water cooling.

I went ahead and added that line. So will that line stop the program from cause the aircraft to look that way?
December 1, 201015 yr No I'm not having trouble just confirming what to add. I went ahead and added that line. So will that line stop the program from cause the aircraft to look that way?Yes. When you start the simulator that line will tell the executing file (fsx.exe) that the shader system has changed. If you look down FSX's folders you will see one called "ShadersHLSL". The files in that folder are repeated into your copied to C:\Users\pj\AppData\Local\Microsoft\FSX\Shaders and Shaders10. These files are 'cached' i.e. they are loaded into memory for instant use by the cpu, and they must agree with the version that FSX 'thinks' it has. If they don't agree - your crazy graphic images are the result. Putting that line in the cfg file tells fsx.exe to rebuild the FSX\Shaders and ShadersHLSL files. As Thunderbolt said - there are two or three things that change the Shader cache and so you need to rebuild it. You can delete those file OR you can tell FSX to rebuild those files. What we've just done is tell it to rebuild them. OK? :smile:Incidentally - you're not alone. This has happened to hundreds of other simmers - including me. I completely rebuilt FSX before I knew about this fix.
