You might have a corrupted driver. I'd suggest you do thr uninstall - drivercleaner - reinstall scenario with your driver. If you recently changed drivers, try going back to an older one.Lastly, if you've changed anything in your system just prior to he problem, change back.Vic

Ron, are you saying it is a common problem with the card or driver ? I would find it hard to believe it would be the Card quite frankly. The ol' 8800gts cards I found to be rock solid.,For there age and speed ,very good. I have found it performs at it's optium not using the latest Nvidia drivers, but the 197 series and Nhancer.I have had quite poor performance using the latest drivers, which are more optimized for the 200 and 400 series. I would suggest , as stated above, flush out your current driver, download series 197.45 from Nvidia.com (archive) and set up Nhancer per NickN's tuning thread . I believe you have a driver issue, and unless you remove the drivers using driver sweeper, you will not overcome the issue.CheersJulian

I just checked Nvidea and my driver is 258.96 and latest one is 260.99.Should I install it?Will it automatically uninstall 298.96?I'm not real savvy on this stuff. Thanks,Ron

Sorry,I didn't see your above post before posting my last one. When I installed the 298 one I got a response from Nick saying Nhancer would not work with it and I needed Nvidea Inspector. He said nothing about I should not have installed the driver. He is the Goto for this stuff for me.Maybe that's where I screwed up.By installing latest driver.Ron

Try my suggestion Ron, download 197 series. The latest Nvidia drivers will uninstall previous, but only from 2.60 upwards. If you install a driver older than that you must do it manually. Check Nick's tuning thread in regards to this, he has ver clear instructions as below:uninstall physxuninstall steroscopicdo not uninstall the driver or CP from Add/removego to device manager, find the adapter, uninstall it from therebrowse to and delete any folder for NVIDIA or NVIDIA CORPORATION inC:/NVIDIAC:/Program FilesFor 64bit C/Program Files (x86) Delete the entire "NVIDIA Corporation" folderC/ProgramData Delete both the "NVIDIA" and "NVIDIA" Corporation foldersome of those may not exist.. if you find them, delete themreboot to safe mode run driver sweeper with the Nv physx and display checked reboot to Windows and install the new driver, reboot and set

Buried deep in one of his many many posts, he states " use an older driver if running an older graphic's card, as the latest drivers may not perform well" words to that effect.I have been using the 197.45 driver now for 6 months and would not change it for quids. Also you can use Nhancer with this series driver. So I followed Nick's advice and tried the older driver, and have not looked back.I think anybody using the GTS 8800 should try this 197 series if they are experiencing issues, like your self.Edit: Installing the latest driver for anything, does not mean it is going to work well, or fix issues you maybe having, there is too many variables, and also any settings in your Bios that are set incorrectly, will not be adressed by a driver update.I would suggest you drop a PM to Nick with your Bios settings Ron and make sure everything is sweet. Otherwise, you will spend more time at the computer shop than flying.CheersJulian

Maybe I should just uprade my video card?If so do you have a recommendation?Ron

Thats a curly one Ron, as some 'puters have a different key to enter. Most use the delete key and you tap it as the computer is in post boot, before windows loads. If you feell it is a place you do not wish to go, take your box to your computer man and get him to check. The bios has the configuration settings for what you have in the "Box" and not a place to go if you are not computer savvy.

Maybe I should just uprade my video card?If so do you have a recommendation?Ron
400 series, 470 minimum, 480 sure bet.
