Southern California GA airport?

Featured Replies

I don't know about you guys, but I think Southern California needs a nicely done GA airport for FS9. If you think about it, the only descent ones are from Shez Ansari such as Burbank and Long Beach. I would like to see someone do possibly Van Nuys, Santa Monica, or Camarillo. That would be great and it would definitly get a lot of interest on Avsim. Just a thought, what do you guys think?Chris A.

I agree. Glad to see that you've decided to become a designer, as this is the scenery design forum and not the I want this, somebody make it forum.I would suggest one of the smaller airports, like Fullerton or Brackett or Riverside ( :( ) to get your feet wet. After you've mastered the different aspects you can move on to Van Nuys or Santa Barbara. Gosh there are so many to choose from. It's a big task ahead of you, but if you have any questions please feel free to ask.

I suppose "nicely done" is in the eye of the beholder - but have you auditioned John Loney's Camarillo airport?http://library.avsim.net/search.php?SearchTerm=camarillo&CatID=fs2004scen&Go=SearchIt is for FS2004 - but he is redoing many of his airports so they will work in FSX. He specializes in smaller GA airports and much of his work is quite remarkable - IMHO.

But most, if not all of his objects are Rwy12 and EZ-Scenery objects - required if not there. While I didn't find this hard at all with Trevor Clark's UK Sceneries that required objects from Neil Birch and Ted Andrews, which were easy to find, easy to install, and lightweight on the hard drive memory, placing ALL of those scenery objects takes a huge amount of time, and I'm under a 3-hour restriction rule from my mother to play MSFS.
