AI traffic sounds

Featured Replies

Now I have migrated to Windows 7, I really, really miss the great a/c sounds that I used to get at airports with FSHotSFX installed in Windows XP. That programme's setup will sadly not run in Win7 - I have read a number of people who have posted saying they won't change to Win7 precisely because you have to go without FSHotSFX. Well, I get so much better performance in Windows 7 64-bit than I got in XP 64-bit, I am not about to change back, but I can positively hear (so to speak) how quiet my airports are now. Very sad the creators of FSHotSFX abandoned it.I have had word that a couple of well-know FS software designers are considering their own replacement of FSHotSFX (yes, please, please: soon!!), but meanwhile I am posting here to ask what people would recommend as the best replacement for FSHotSFX - I know I won't get the same great effects, but there are a number of files in the AVSIM library and elsewhere that purport to add sounds to AI traffic: rather than take pot luck I wondered if anyone has any recommendations? What are the limitations? I would love to get the sounds of jets and propellers again as AI traffic comes and goes..Thank you,Martin

I think unfortunately there is no replacement. The best you can get is modding the in-built AI sounds and perhaps adding sounds to the touchdown effects (time consuming though)...I'm also looking forward to any equivalent. This is one of a few bits of 'essential' FS software that is keeping me on XP64 for the time being.Geoff

FSHotSFX was the only reason I also installed 64-bit XP as a dual boot with Windows 7 64-bit on my new PC. Can't imagine using FS2004 without FSHotSFX. I've searched for equivalents of FSHotSFX, but nothing comes even close to the spool-up and reverser sounds that the program makes.

Well, I will have to check back with the companies who told me they were thinkinbg of issuing their own product along the lines of FSHotSFX (Aerosoft and Flight1.com)...M.
