December 10, 201015 yr I am thinking about a netbook or a small laptop.I really need something for school with long battery life. Everyone is using netbooks but when ever I try to use them, they just seem so slow. I am used to the snappiness of my FSC PC. I have a couple other laptops. I have one 1.3 Ghz dinosaur that I use for my email and printing that is networked with my FSX rig. I have another 2 GHz dual core 17" Asus G51. The Asus isn't bad but it is too large to travel with, it has glowing lights on the case (so annoying) and it sucks juice like crazy.I really want something with long battery life that isn't slow so I can take notes on it in 4 hour classes. I will use it for Office, email, net and I would love it to be able to run DVD movies without draining the battery too much - would be nice for watching movies while traveling. Also, price is an issue and I don't want a Mac.Any suggestions? MSFS Premium Deluxe Edition; Windows 11 Pro, I9-9900k; Asus Maximus XI Hero; Asus TUF RTX3080TI; 32GB G.Skill Ripjaw DDR4 3600; 2X Samsung 1TB 970EVO; NZXT Kraken X63; Seasonic Prime PX-1000, LG 48" C1 Series OLED, Honeycomb Yoke & TQ, CH Rudder Pedals, Logitech G13 Gamepad
December 11, 201015 yr Duckbilled: I have bought 5 laptops/netbooks/pad computers in the past 2 years and by far the fastest, lightest, most versatile and best on battery life was the one I bought my stepson for college last year. HP from BestBuy, by FAR the best. Any of their Widows 7 models between $500 - $700 are good, depending on what features you're willing to pay for. Oh, yeah. I bought him an extra, extended life battery from Amazon too. Manufacturers save money by using low volume batteries, so you're not going to get one off the shelf without paying for it.Good luck and let us know what you decide! Smooth Skies! -- Chuck B. December 11, 201015 yr No, no, no, get HER one of these:<< http://www.bestbuy.c...uawei&cp=1&lp=1 >>My wife friekin' LOVES hers -- she's so addicted to 'Angry Birds' and ebooks she leaves me completely alone! It's less expensive and you won't need an exorcism afterwards because you've brought the devil's spawn into your home (an Apple). Smooth Skies! -- Chuck B.
