December 14, 201015 yr Simple enough question, at any time during your approach to Midway was 13C closer to you then 31C? If it was closer to you when it was tuned in, then FS (9 or X) would assume that you intended 13C instead of 31C and give you exactly the situation you described. If you would like me to try your flight, which I am happy to do, it would help if you told me what it actually was. Were did you launch from? What was your take off weight and fuel load? What was your flight plan? Was weather a factor? What was your approach? Did you use a STAR? Which one? Did you go follow it through to the transition? What vectors did you follow to final? Paul Smith.

The lack of a displaying GS indication was noticeably missing on each of the 6 approaches tried with the 74, as well as the one with the 737NG I used as well. I merely wish to find out WHY the RWY31 GS indicator pink diamond is not displaying there. Could it be the default FS9 scenery/AFCAD, or something other. It should display if you have the frequency on the system, shouldn't it? It certainly did for the opposite directional one, after the mid field point was reached, as the flight tracked the Localizer perfectly. There is just an investigational tone here from my end, nothing more.ThxFirstly, I don't follow thru on all the detail that regular airline ops would, preferring just to fly with the basics available. Because I don't get into the sim to that degree, as too much time would need to be expended for that here, and I wish to not expend that much time only on a game.

If you tune 109.9, FS will assume you mean the station with that frequency that is closest to you. If you are closer to 13C, then that is what FS thinks you want. Paul Smith.
December 14, 201015 yr The duplicate ILS frequency on opposing ends of 13/31C might be causing your problem. Here are images of the default KMDW ILS's and the 13C and 31C images. I have outlined what needs to be changed in red. This is AFCAD221 OK to use for the default. It is freeware from the FS9 utility section here.
December 14, 201015 yr OK trisac, can you tell us which direction you approached the airport from. Not 'lined up at 315 with the runway', but say you flew in from Vancouver for example, you would have approached the airport from around WNW. If your nav radio was already tuned to 109.9 and you were on the WNW side of the airport perhaps the receiver locked onto the 13C ILS. Then you flew around the airport and approached the airport from the SE but the receiver stayed locked onto 13C. If you don't use a STAR but fly close enough to the airport that the ILS receiver doesn't 'disconnect' from 13C (in this case) you may have problems locking onto 31C.Learning the depths of the FMC really is essential with these heavy birds. If you don't put in the time to learn these plane's systems (particularly PMDG) you're really in for a frustrating time.Cheers, Chris D I do not have a signature. Why are you reading this?
