October 29, 200322 yr That particular Saab was started by another group around the time FS2002 was released. Its just been a neverending project for the last couple of years and Im sad to see it will never see the light of day, but glad that I can have closure on it. I really wasnt even that excited about it anymore after all of the delays from the group that folded and merged with FFG.Craig
October 29, 200322 yr I feel bad for him/them. It must really suck to have all of that hard work gone in the blink of an eye. With that said, I just don't understand why people working on a long irreplacable project don't burn back-up copies on a CD "just in case". I mean, this project was cancelled because a 10 cent CD didn't get burned. Oh well, lesson learned I guess.Tim13
October 29, 200322 yr Author One model lives at www.computerpilot.net, Interactive, Volume 7, issue 1. I had the previous group's version which wasn't too great FDE so I used the FFG airfile and aircraft config modifying the texture info. I did my own panel merge.A Regional Express paint version was created for their bio on Australian REX operations. There is also the FFG model on www.flightsim.com and the fsp one still available elsewhere. FFG has just released a paintkit today for the 340B.The Saab 340B is a very popular regional 30 passenger aircraft. Mesaba (NW Airlink) has quite a few in the US for the smaller runway visitations.
October 29, 200322 yr All the files that I really really do not want to lose, for inststance all my payware stuff for msfs, I have backuped to a second, usually unconnected harddisk PLUS that I burn it on DVD AND CD-RW! One memorable night when rebooting, the bios stated that it couldn't find any files on my slave disk that I use as storage. I went to bed thinking about all the gazillions of payware products that I've now lost. I felt totally empty in my head, like my brain had been formatted but the FAT-table was corrupt! In the morning though everything was back to normal when I started the computer :) Off to hardware vendor I went and got myself one more hard disk! phew!/Krister Krister LindénEFMA, Finland------------------
October 29, 200322 yr Author Both of my HDs are mounted in 5 1/4 inch slots in nests and removable cartridges. Both are set for cable select so the mount determines master or slave. Every so often I boot off of floppy and use an imaging utility to copy the full image from the master to the backup. This allows swapping the backup to the main position and booting off it if necessary. The backup hd is moved out and power off so it doesn't get accessed by viruses or goof up the partition assignments that would occur if left live. Of course if you have a virus on the master during imaging it will copy over.I also copy all downloads, keys, and setup directories that contain keys to CD-R as you do.In FS2K2 I zip up the aircraft and gauge directories and copy them to CD as well so I do not lose the mods I have performed on models and panels.
