completely missed approach

Featured Replies

Hi,I had prepared my flight to land at KPHF Newport News/Williamsburg (VA), ILS RWY 25 , with the current approach chart. I was IFR and was waiting to intercept the localizer. The CDI told me to turn left. The CDI needle kept drifting left and I failed to intercept the loc. I was puzzled only to find out that there is no ILS 25 in FSX, only an ILS 07 (same frequency as ILS 25 which explains why I made the opposite heading correction). Is it possible to update the airport data ?Thank you

Sure there is. One freeware tool would be Airport Design Editor (ADE). Load the airport there and just add some ILS with the right frequency. Save it and make sure that it either replaces the original file or that it is located above it in the scenery library.Worked for me on some payware airports too where the frequencies weren't current anymore.By the way, there are actually some airports around where two runway directions share the same ILS frequency. I think Heathrow is an example for this. But I think in your case, this isn't the fact so the approach on adding some more ILS data will be the right one I think.

Don't forget there are airports that use a back course localizer - same frequenct opposite direction - CDI indications are reversed. Don't know if this is the case here though.Vic
