No AI Traffic in FSX

Featured Replies

Think maybe you missed my last reply.. :-)Can I find WoAI files anywhere else other than AVSIm and Flightsim.com (as linked on the WoAI website)? There are some glaring omissions - for example, no Air France medium/heavies. What's the easiest way to fill these gaps?M.
I don't believe these are actually missing. I have them and I DLed them from the AVSIM Library. You say you run your traffic at 50%, and tried 75%. I believe most WOAI traffic is set for 100%, if so anything less and they won't show. I believe there is a utility in the library that may allow you to change the frequency percentage in the traffic BGL. Unfortunately I don't remember the name of it. Maybe someone else here has a better recollection. Also you say you are running DX11? I assume you mean DX10. Try DX9 as FS9 AI models have trouble with DX10, and turn off aircraft shadows.

Thanks

I think the traffic issue in FSX is OK now, I get some traffic at airports, enough to make it look OK: given that I fly FS9 95% of the time and FSX only the remaining 5% (if that), and also 95% of that 5% (!) is probably GA flights out of tiny airports, I think I have spent enough time on this. Thanks everyone for all the help.My DirectX Diagnostics Tool tells me I am running DirectX 11 (Windows 7 x64) and the dxdiag.txt file (in AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\FSX) reads: Machine name: MARTIN-PC Operating System: Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit (6.1, Build 7600) (7600.win7_gdr.100618-1621) Language: English (Regional Setting: English)System Manufacturer: System manufacturer System Model: System Product Name BIOS: BIOS Date: 05/25/10 14:39:27 Ver: 08.00.15 Processor: Intel® Core i7 CPU 950 @ 3.07GHz (8 CPUs), ~3.8GHz Memory: 6144MB RAMAvailable OS Memory: 6136MB RAM Page File: 3797MB used, 14835MB available Windows Dir: C:\Windows DirectX Version: DirectX 11DX Setup Parameters: Not found User DPI Setting: Using System DPI System DPI Setting: 96 DPI (100 percent) DWM DPI Scaling: Disabled DxDiag Version: 6.01.7600.16385 32bit Unicode..but what do I know? - I just take what it says at face value. :( Martin

DX11 is what is native to Windows 7, but it is backward compatible with DX10 and DX9. FSX doesn't support DX11. If you have the DX10 Preview option checked in FSX, you are running in DX10 mode. If it's not checked you are running in DX9. If it is checked, I would suggest to uncheck it, to see if your traffic increases. As I said, FS9 models which WOAI uses, do not play well with DX10.

Thanks

DX10 mode was not checked - so I tried it out to see what would happen. Yes, some AI textures were lost (blank a/c), frame rates were quite a bit lower and anti-aliasing wasn't working. Turned DX10 off again and things are much better again. In fact, I have found a lot of missing a/c in WoAI and, though I am grateful for the work people have put into this freeware project, I've deleted it and have installed Ultimate Traffic instead (which I didn't use before because I don't like the blurry a/c, but it looks well enough, and at least there are Air France planes at Charles-de-Gaulle, for instance)!M.
