Switched from two HD5870 in Crossfire to GTX 580 SLI

Hi guys...I got tired of reading reports about the GTX 480 and now the GTX 580 about the fps and the better rendering delivered... so... just for curiosity I just bought a pair of GTX 580 (a pair for games like metro 2033 and Mafia II) to finally compare the real pros and cons compared to what I was getting from ATI (now AMD) for a lower price...I'm gonna do some tests with Orbx PNW sceneries under heavy clouds (4096 HD REX2) with 100% UT2 traffic and show the results in a couple of HD videos in youtube (the classic before and after)... I hope not to be disappointed Nail%20Biting.gif ... The cards are getting here in about 2 weeks, just in time for my vacations... stay tuned...Dexter...

Yes, please let us know what you discover as I am battling which route I want to take this year. I was all set on my new AMD 6970 and then eventually move into Eyefinity. Absolutely luv the card for cost/performance but I just could not tweak out some shimmering in the autogen and distant scenery. So I put in an EVGA GTX580 and it does not have the same issue (guess that's the difference when the manufacture continues to support FSX).So now I am debating which way to go for multiple screens. May just wait for MS Flight to come out to see which card supports it best, then get a second card.So was your decision purely out of curiosity or did you have any issues like mine?Clutch

To tell you the truth... curiosity... because I'm getting excellent performance (no issues) with my HD5870 xfire setup but I decided to give nvidia a shot again...The reason that forced me to switch to ATI was nvidia CRAPPY drivers (especially in SLI) because once you go multi-gpu you never go back... I've skipped the gtx 400 series and waited for the 500 series because I knew the gtx 480 was like a test video card... Now comparing the specs of the 480 to the 580, obviously, the 580 is far superior to HD5870 and GTX 480... IF... you are not limited by your cpu (that is not my case)... Keeping that thought in mind... we all know that FSX is 80% cpu dependant but faster rendering should improve FSX fps... and that is exactly what I expect to see with the GTX580 and that is what I want to show you in a couple of HD videos on youtube reviewing the HD5870 vs GTX 580 in FSX...Dexter...
