FS Genesis Eurpoe 76.4 terrain

Recommended Posts

Now why would that be, I wonder?Previous post: no, no Faber textures, not my thang.Haven't done the FS9.CFG thing yet, but will do, I guess. In the meantime, deselected FSGenesis mesh ... all loaded up fine. Reselected FSGenesis mesh, restarted FS .... hung again at "Loading terrain 56% (always the same number) with this message that I have never seen before:http://www.paxship.com/justin.jpgDidn't realise I had to get the wife involved!Anyway, started FS again, crashed to desktop at 56%, no message this time. So I'll try your route, I guess. Justin, what might be causing this, d'ya reckon? Pleasure to meet you at MAAM, by the way.Mark "Dark Moment" BeaumontEDIT: Uh oh. Let it rebuild my FS9.CFG file and after gazing admiringly at the Kings once again for a moment or two (only because they actually get PAID by Microsoft, or at least get lots of free marketing) I selected Plymouth once more for the default Cessna .... 25% ... 35% .... 55% .... 59% (wow!) and then CRASH.So that didn't work for me, O reptilian one. Horses for courses, I guess. Justin, hope this isn't happening for everybody; I just don't have time for this right now, I fear, so will go back to another mesh for the moment. Much of my England flying is in the South West so if that doesn't work for me, I'll just have to wait to see whether others have a similar problem and you find a solution.http://www.swiremariners.com/newlogo.jpg

Same here, Mark ! :-)No idea why you might get that message. I know for certain that there isn't anyhting in terrain mesh files that might throw up that message. And nothing, of course, in my installer (since there isn't one, just a zip file.)There really isn't anything being installed, per se, just the extraction of two files to a folder within your FS9 folder. Certainly nothing that would require admin priveliges, no system files being written to, or anything that.Have you installed anything else recently that might be confusing your system?Maybe have a look in System Restore and see if there are any restore points created recently by an installer and if so, roll back to before that and try it again.I'm stumped . . .-------Justinhttp://www.fsgenesis.netHigh Quality Scenery for FS200x

No, nothing weird installed recently that I know of, and anyway, everything works fine (including installing new sceneries) with your mesh deactivated.I don't use installers, and don't even trust SYSTEM RESTORE since it removed many of my aircraft folder contents at random once.I tried moving your two files about, too .... WORLD/SCENERY, own folder under SCENERY, open in the main SCENERY folder .... same result. So maybe we just wait to see whether others have a similar problem. It's early days, and it doesn't crash my system at all airports.Mark "Dark Moment" Beaumonthttp://www.swiremariners.com/newlogo.jpg

Odd. Well, try Lizardo's solution and see what happens. So far, you're the only one. Aside from Lizardo's initial report, since fixed, haven't had any other reports and it's been downloaded nearly 300 times since I posted it early last evening. -------Justinhttp://www.fsgenesis.netHigh Quality Scenery for FS200x

Howdy:Just after the release of my Rockies' files I had a half day of repeated CTDs when trying to load any of my saved flights in FS9 (including the default Meigs Field flight) - sure made for some anxious moments; good thing I have a massage therapists in the house ;-) I let FS rebuild my fs9.cfg but that didn't work (BTW, always make a backup copy before doing this otherwise you'll lose all your custom tweaks in fs9.cfg!).I finally tracked it down to the new popular water reflections and/or bumpmap files. The problems completely disappeared when I disabled them. Do you have those files installed?I have since re-installed the Lyons' water reflections (calm water version) and haven't had a any problems but havn't tried the bump maps yet.I also had a quick look at the UK mesh in TMFViewer (probably something Justin has done already) and there's nothing that would suggest a problem with the mesh files itself.Cheers, Holger

Ah well, just as well I'm the only one (you did TRY positioning to Plymouth EGHD yourself, did you, Justin?).I've allowed a rebuild of the FS9.CFG file ... no go.I've disabled the new bumpmapping and reverted .. no go.I've replaced Bill Lyon's stuff with default again ... no go.So that's enough fiddling. I fear I'll just have to revert to the Nanucq mesh which is very nice anyway (better than Lago in my own humble view, as said above). So there we are. No complaints, Justin, for sure, as it may just be the usual Dark Moment gremlins, and I NEVER complain about freeware, LOL!Let me know, though, if anybody else but Lizardo finds a problem. Thanks.Mark "Dark Moment" Beaumonthttp://www.swiremariners.com/newlogo.jpg

HI mark,Yep. Sure did go to both Plymouth and Exeter, a couple of times back and forth, trying to force the issue. No problems.Do yo have any addon landclass installed? Landclass has been known to cause CTDs that didn't happen in FS2002.-------Justinhttp://www.fsgenesis.netHigh Quality Scenery for FS200x

Hmmmm ... I do have Raymond Taburet's payware FS2002 LC for England installed. However, it hasn't crashed me before and does not with other (or no) mesh. Might try whipping it out just to see.Holger, tried replicating the SCENERY.CFG files in the two locations. That didn't work either.Mark "Dark Moment" Beaumonthttp://www.swiremariners.com/newlogo.jpg

Mark, Justin, and all,I had even worse problems than Mark. That is, I got the Plymouth (EGHD) crash and then, subsequently, had my whole FS9 go to pot.... was able to get it to start up at all only about once in ten times, even in New Zealand!Even completely removing the Genesis UK bgls failed to restore functionality.Horror! However, a little quick troubleshooting revealed that, in my case, the culprit was a completely different file that I added in the wee hours last night -- "railroadsu.zip" -- alternative railroad textures that I and 382 others (including perhaps Mr. Beaumont?) have downloaded since yesterday. When I took it off the system, the problem disappeared, when I put it back on, the problem returned, when I re-removed it, FS9 returned to normal operations. Could this have something to do with what seems like an epidemic of crashes in the FS world today?Haven't yet tried putting the FS Genesis UK mesh back in....I am supposed to be "working" tonight. I have it loaded and started a flight at Plymouth, no problems what so ever, really nice area as well. I have the files installed as an addon scenery (no texture folder) , not in the sim, this might make a difference.Very nice work Justin, looks great and thanks!Regards, MichaelKDFWhttp://mysite.verizon.net/res052cd/mybannercva1.jpgCalVirAir International VAwww.calvirair.comCougar Mountain Helicopters & Aviationwww.cgrmtnhelos.com

The file "railroadsu.zip" contains a replacement texture for railroad lines... but it is not mipped, and has no alpha channel ( which I believe is required for 8-bit textures ). I do suspect that file is causing the crashes, and it has nothing to do with mesh.Dick

Mark, Hope you can get your system back the way it was when it worked, and when you didn't have that railroadsu.zip installed. One thing is to keep at it because it seems that FS9 has to go through a couple of cycles before it either corrects stuff or goes T.U.All kinds of weird stuff happens. Yesterday, I spent three hours tracking down mesh problems. A couple of freeware meshes that I had used with no problems in FS2002 with absolutely no problems caused the following situations in FS9:- mountains all over Holland, and especially on the approaches to Schiphol...rather unsettling- gigantic bilgewater-colored crystal cathedrals like jagged shards of glass towering 50,000 feet or more all along the western shore of the Caspian sea...more than unsettling. Why does stuff go wrong like that all of a sudden? Guess nobody will know until the SDK comes out (yawn). At least it seems that today's problems are not caused by the FSGenesis mesh!Good luck!
