January 30, 201115 yr The only time I ever crash due to low memory is when I am flying the PDMG747. I noticed I use 70-72% of my virtual memory when flying the 747, but only 56% when using the LD767 and 50% when using the default Cessna. I was wondering if other users see the same results. (What % of virtual memory are you seeing?) In all cases I am getting 30+ fps and the CPU is only at 50%BTW: At 73%, it seems like I crash, so I am right at the edge of disaster. If I don't change views too much I can complete a flight with the 747.I know my problem is Vista 32. Using FSX, scenery on very dense, System is Dell quad core 3.76 htz, 4 Gb ram, dual 8800 GTX cards, dual monitors. I hope the new 737NGX (due out really, really soon runs this better.)Paul Gugliotta Paul Gugliotta
January 30, 201115 yr Commercial Member The virtual memory you see reported in Windows isn't what causes the crash. The crash is caused by a different thing called user virtual address space. There's no cure for this other than moving to a 64-bit OS. 32-bit has a hard limit at 2GB - there's a way to increase it to 3GB, but doing it can cause other issues because it eats into the space normally reserved for video memory, hardware resources etc. Just get Win 7 x64. January 31, 201115 yr yea had the same problem when i had 32 bit system than decided to upgrade to w7 64 bit system now got nearly all my sliders to max and havnt had any crashes yet and getting over 20 fps now over ymml where as b4 i was only getting between 6 to 10 fps. so i agrree with tab its worth the effort to upgrade ur pc if u can afford to that is I7-8700k,Corsair h1101 cooler ,Asus Strix Gaming Intel Z370 S11 motherboard, Corsair 32gb ramDD4,, gtx 1080ti Card, RM850 power supply Peter kelberg
January 31, 201115 yr Author It pains me to think I need to re-load FSX, then the updates, then PDMG747, then the liveries, then LD767, then the update, then the winglets, then the liveries, then FSUIPC, then SB4, then the add on scenery, then the drivers for the yoke, pedals etc. I am getting too old - maybe time to retire my wings Paul Gugliotta
February 1, 201115 yr Well, does it pain you to spend those 3 hours doing that more than it would pain you to quit simming? The time it takes to set it up is the same time it takes to do one very short flight in a 747. Not too much of a hassle. But if you rather want to quit then go ahead.
