February 4, 201115 yr FSX probably hates me. Why is it, that always when I try to move my entire simming experience to FSX, it breaks down on me. I have no idea what I have done wrong, but everything fails. All the aircraft I installed seem to be crashing upon selection, and I fear very much that something in the exe.xml or dll.xml has been FUBAR-ed. So, now I'm thinking of reinstalling FSX. However, I have lost of addons installed here, and to be honest, I'd hate to have to start deinstalling and reinstalling everything... I'm mostly talking about sceneries here. Is it "safe" to reinstall FSX without having to reinstall all the sceneries? Is it "safe" to reinstall FSX without having to reinstall all the sceneries?Hi, you can try a repair from the DVD but be warned, some problems mean that once you tried that you may find FSX not working at all.It sounds like you may have to do a full install in the end. If you do, tread carefully with addons, don't put them all on at once. Check FSX default planes and scenery are working first.Sometimes you can uninstall and reinstall but the problem is not cured. When you uninstall you may need also to remove all traces of FSX and any addons manually before installing FSX again. All the best; Steve Steve Waite: Engineer at codelegend.com
February 4, 201115 yr Author I was afraid of that. I'll just do a complete reinstall, then... *sigh*Anybody have any tips for cleaning my computer before I install FSX? I mean, like clearing the registry of anything FSX related, that kind of stuff. February 4, 201115 yr Commercial Member There is also the possibility that you have an "odd" addon aircraft. You could first try MOVING any addon aircraft out of your simobjects folder temporarily, see if that cures it.You could wizz through your PC and "clean" it up nicely but it's a bit of a job if you don't know your way around.Steve Steve Waite: Engineer at codelegend.com
February 4, 201115 yr Delete fsx.cfg, start fsx and let it rebuild the cfg. Then add your tweaks one by one, and see if one of them needs to be left out or changed. Bjorn "I´ll rather be down here wishing I was up there than be up there wishing I was down here"
February 4, 201115 yr Author Too late. uninstalled everything. A friend of mine recommended ccleaner, so I used that to remove all of the remaining FSX related keys in the registry. I'll be looking around if there are some FSX leftover files, but if not, I'll be reinstalling the whole damn thing once again. And when I'm done, the Leonardo Maddog is going in first, closely followed by the LDS767 - these are the most important planes for me right now.Really, every other plane was malfuncioning. I think the Leonardo Maddog started it all. Afterwards came the LDS767, with a panel initialization error. Then the QW757 made FSX CTD, and finally the PMDG 747 had problems locating DLLs. With so much gone wrong, I thought it'd be best to just reinstall the sim and start afresh.
