February 5, 201115 yr I am seeing some feedback on a proposed new computer system. The specs are as follows:Intel I7-950 3.0 GHz, 8MB 4.8 GT/s LGA 1360 (Bloomfield core)Gigabtye X58 LGA 1366 US 3.0 ATX Motherboard8 GB DDR3 1600 PC3-12800 RAM950W SLI Crossfire PSUWindows 7 Home 64 bitThis system is intended as an upgrade for B737NGX. I have a NVIDA GeForce GTX 460 1 GB video card that will go into this system. Before I spend will over $1000 for this upgrade, I would like some assurances that this sytem will have decent performance running the B737NGX. Any feedback or suggested changes would be greatly appreciated! Thanks,Rich BollWichita KS Richard Boll Wichita, KS
February 5, 201115 yr By the time the ngx actually comes out, you might aswell just get the Intel Ivy which is due to release end of year. I use the 2600k over clocked to 4.5ghz from intel with a nvidia gtx580. Very nice performance and I have orbx, rex2.0 overdrive and a few other bits and pieces. Ive just upgraded from a piddly laptop based system so i cant really tell you what your system would be like. Heres a video on youtube with the same processor and card as what you want and he/she is using the pmdg 747 and the team at pmdg have said the ngx will have better performance then the 747(but this could change) but looks good to me! :) Cameron Lett

February 6, 201115 yr Author Don't get the older i7, get the "Sandy Bridge" 2500K or 2600K.Sounds like good advice... :( I've tried to locate Sandy Bridge processors, but haven't been able to find them at the usual on-line suppliers, e.g. Newegg. Any idea when these processors might hit the market? Thanks,Rich Richard Boll Wichita, KS
February 6, 201115 yr Commercial Member They've been pulled off the market temporarily while Intel fixes a flaw in the motherboard chipset that runs them. Wait for them to come back though, they're much better than the older i7s. Ryan MaziarzFor fastest support, please submit a ticket at http://support.precisionmanuals.com
