Featured Replies

Hello All,I recognize that these are new and according to description contain more metal. The pedals can even be angled in three (3) positions. Has anyone run across reviews of these?Thanks....Chris B.

Hoping For CAVU --- Chris

G'day Guys,Mine arrived yesterday & I gave them a bit of a work out last night. I have changed from the previous Saitek pedals where your feet sat in them (a bit like skis I guess) & pushed back & forth. In the short time Iv'e used the new pair the main points I have noticed is that once out of the box you can adjust these so that the pedals are pretty much upright more in the style of real ones. Also a big plus is that like in real life flying (particularly on take off & landing) you can plant your heels on the floor (base) so that you don't accidentally ride the brakes during these critical phases of flight. No red lettering saying "brakes" up on the windsheild in real life :-). I remember a number of instructors during my training days hounding into me "heels on the floor" at these times. The other advantage I found being able to do this is that during a turn you can anchor your heel & hold the pedals in position a lot easier to maintain the "ball in the centre" for a balanced turn. Also the friction adjustment feels a lot better than the previous model & works quite well with you being able to change from very light to quite stiff. This broke on my previous set. Operation felt smooth at all settings I tried.Construction appears pretty good, metal pedals with plastic base however the extension that attached to the base where you place your feet has a metal cross base which adds to the weight & helps prevent slippage I guess. I have carpet & they still slip on that however Saitek supply velcro tape to help aleviate that problem. I have mine wedged up against a couple of tiles which in turn are placed against the wall to stop them from going anywhere.Installation was simple. I use Win7 32bit & all I did was unplugged the old set, plugged in the new & waited for Windows to load the drivers. As I use a registered version of FSUIPC & operate all my axis & switches through that it was just a matter of opening up the utility & making fine adjustments to suit my style & the aircraft I was using at the time. Checking the properties panel in Win7 & looking at the calibration screen I saw that none was needed & everything was working as it should.Early days of course with them but so far I'm very happy & they are certainly a lot more realistic than the previous model & the CH units I had tried some time ago.

Cheers, Ross
